Congratulations to 10 new ACA Paddlesports Universal Paddling Endorsed Instructors. Last weekend, this excellent group of ACA Instructors honed multi-sensory teaching skills and learned best practices to seamlessly integrate kayakers with physical and sensory disabilities on Lake Allatoona just north of Atlanta, GA.

Huge thanks to Move United Sport and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for making this program possible. Additional thanks to Georgia Rivers and ACA Regional Director, Andrea White, for hosting this workshop, coordinating logistics, and providing venues.

Adaptive Expeditions enjoyed a full season in 2024 leading trainings around the USA for outdoor recreation programs that have capacity to better serve people with disabilities resulting from spinal cord injuries. With funding from Craig H. Neilsen Foundation, Adaptive Expeditions taught best practices for the seamless integration of paddlers with spinal cord injuries to staff from Florida Youth Conservation Centers Network, REI Outdoor Programs Staff at REI Headquarters in Bellevue, Team River Runner USA at the St. Louis Chapter, and Charleston County Parks Outdoor Experience Paddlesports Staff. All together we endorsed 40 new ACA Paddlesports (ACA) Adaptive Paddling Instructors. During the four training workshops we also helped 18 people with disabilities resulting from spinal cord injuries get into kayaks and onto the water with improved comfort, safety, and performance. What a great year to get together on the water!

What a great event. What great people. We are so luckily to have such an amazing community.

Huge thank you to Summerville, SC Parks & Recreation and Prosthetic & Orthotic Associates of South Carolina, Bonnie Chapman, and Catherine Spaulding for a very successful first annual Pickleball Run / Roll Tournament. 16 players did their best to come out champions. Everyone learned the game and had a great time.

Lowcountry friends. I have a dear friend who is a single mother of two children (her older child has autism). As a family, they have regularly participated with Adaptive Expeditions for the past 5-years. She really needs to find work with hours that fit with being a single mother. Remote contract work might be ideal. She is a very hard worker, smart, educated, self-motivated, wonderfully positive attitude, full of life, and she is a very fun person to be around. If AE had the resources, we would hire her in an instant. If anyone has leads or ideas, please private message me. Please feel free to share this post, as I am hoping to reach all our friends and partners: Lowcountry Autism Consortium, Able South Carolina, Autism Society of South Carolina, Autism Speaks, Camp Rise Above, South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, Pattison's Academy, The Arc of South Carolina, HEART Inclusive Arts Community, Project Rex: MUSC Autism Spectrum, Coastal Community Foundation.
