Our founder and CEO, Brett Wilson, opens up about her powerful journey as a two-time cancer survivor. Diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma that wrapped around her throat, she experienced dying twice because she couldn't breathe. Growing up through harsh treatments in the 70s and 80s—where doctors gave whatever they could to hopefully save a life—inspired Brett to dedicate her life to supporting families through the hidden costs and burdens of cancer. Diagnosed with leukemia as a toddler and later battling non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at age nine, Brett was given just a year to live. So this is the couple that I flew with through Angel Flight East to help me get to my appointments at Cleveland. This program has been a partner of Walking Miracles Family Foundation four number of years and I recently have reconnected with them. The families are interested in flying versus driving to their appointments for long distances this is a great opportunity. I have already flown with them about six times now and will be going back to Cleveland and October. My responsibility is to get to the airport they choose which is a private airport and then they pay for the transportation to the hospital for my appointment and then back from the hospital to the other airport depending on where I'm going back to and then it's my responsibility to get home. It has been so much cheaper and less tiresome for me to go to my appointments.

I would like to announce that I have written my first book ever about being a Two Time Childhood Cancer Survivor and my family's support during this cancer journey and beyond. It's called A Walking Miracle.
