A study led by Dr. Matthew Carpenter and team was featured on the American College of Chest Physicians titled "Varenicline sampling with minimal guidance may boost smoking cessation rates," discussing how the medication sampling model may lower barriers to engagement and allow patients to consider cessation on their own terms.

What aspect of your work is most meaningful to you right now, and why?
I have the opportunity to do research and service work in 8 countries. This is meaningful to me because it makes a difference in the lives of many vulnerable people and is a platform to train and impact the lives of students and professionals.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
Our publication on development of Multisystemic Therapy for Intimate Partner Violence published in British Journal Psychiatric Bulletin was selected as article of the month by The Royal College of Psychiatrists and Cambridge University Press.

Being part of such an incredible team! I love that every day brings an opportunity to teach, learn, and work together to care for patients. Being surrounded by people so dedicated to our patients and each other makes this work especially rewarding.

What is something people would be surprised to learn about you?
I once biked Bolivia’s North Yungas Road, famously known as El Camino de la Muerte, or “Death Road,” which descends more than 3,500 meters from the Andes toward the Amazon rainforest!
