“Our inner world mirrors the one beneath our feet.” 🌱

I picked up The Hidden Half of Nature by David Montgomery and Anne Biklé about three years ago in a little Pacific Northwest bookstore — long before it started showing up everywhere in conversations about the microbiome and human health.

It’s an incredible read that connects the microbes in our soil to the microbes in our bodies, showing how both shape inflammation, immunity, and resilience.

The authors also dive into the history of antibiotics and vaccines — exploring how these life-saving discoveries changed our relationship with the microbial world, sometimes in ways we’re still learning to balance.

As someone who works deeply with gut, bone, and environmental health, I found this book to be one of the best explanations of how restoring microbial diversity — whether in soil or the body — supports true healing.

📖 Highly recommend this one if you’re interested in functional medicine, gut health, or environmental wellness.

💬 Have you read it? What part resonated most with you?

Beyond any current discussion in the news that may be controversial and incomplete …..everyone should be optimizing their folate intake through real whole foods. Folate plays a central role in both methylation and detoxification in our liver. Tylenol depletes glutathione our master antioxidant. Alcohol depletes glutathione. That is why it is so damaging to the liver if used together. Environmental toxins also deplete glutathione. Not everyone can convert folic acid effectively to active folate so get your folate from REAL FOOD not fortified foods.

♻️ #1 PET Plastics – Not Always Recyclable ♻️
Did you know PET plastics, like water bottles, can take 450 years or more to break down? 🌎 Even though #1 PET is widely accepted in recycling bins, clamshell containers are rejected. Here’s why ⬇️

🔹 Contamination – leftover food spoils whole recycling batches.
🔹 Labels & adhesives – tough to remove in sorting.
🔹 Different plastic types – thin PET clamshells don’t always process properly.
🔹 Melting issues – they melt at different temps, contaminating other materials.

👉 Next time you grab berries or salad in a clamshell, think twice about where it ends up. Choose alternatives and avoid single use plastics! 🌿
