June is National Cancer Survivors Month, a time to recognize the strength and resilience of individuals living beyond a cancer diagnosis. Cancer survivorship includes life during and after treatment, follow-up care, managing long-term side effects, and focusing on overall health and well-being.

May is Bladder Cancer Awareness Month. One of the most common warning signs of bladder cancer is blood in the urine, and it should never be ignored. While it can be caused by several conditions, it is important to speak with a healthcare provider to determine the cause.

Understanding the symptoms and seeking early evaluation can make a meaningful difference in diagnosis and treatment. Learn more about bladder cancer symptoms and when to talk to your doctor: https://www.lowcountryoncology.com/?p=3803

In recognition of Medical Transcriptionist Week this week, we would like to express our sincere appreciation for the vital role our transcriptionist, Vernessa, plays at Lowcountry Oncology Associates.

Vernessaโ€™s long tenure to our practice and commitment behind the scenes ensures that our providers have the information they need for their patients to ensure high-quality care when it comes to documentation. The work Vernessa does often goes unseen, but it absolutely essential to our daily operations and success.

So, thank you Vernessa for your consistency, professionalism, and the care you put into every visit note and report. Your contributions truly make a difference in the patient experience and support the entire care team.

Last Saturday, members of the Lowcountry Oncology team took to the water to participate in the Dragon Boat Charleston Race, showing the same teamwork, strength, and spirit that they bring to patient care every day.

Even though the race was cancelled after round 1 due to the weather, weโ€™re proud of our staff for coming together, supporting the community, and having a great time doing it. Way to paddle strong, team! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’™

April is a reminder that growth does not happen all at once. It happens one step at a time.
For patients and families navigating cancer care, you do not need to have every answer or see the entire road ahead. Focusing on the next appointment, next treatment, or the next month of rest is enough.

Progress is built in small, steady steps.
