Meet Kristin Carriker, PA-C! 💙🩺

Not every career in medicine starts the same way. For Kristin, it started on the river as a whitewater raft guide. After helping with first-aid situations on the river, she was encouraged to pursue EMS and spent the next 15 years serving Mecklenburg County as a paramedic before becoming a Physician Assistant.

Today, Kristin cares for patients with acute brain and spinal injuries and enjoys working alongside the CNSA team to help patients through some of their most challenging moments.

Outside of work, Kristin loves anything that gets her outdoors, from hiking and kayaking to rock climbing, gardening, and cheering on her son's baseball and swimming teams. 🥾🌿

We're excited to welcome Dr. Brea Willeford to Carolina NeuroSurgery & Spine Associates! 💙🩺

Dr. Willeford is a board-certified physician in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine with clinical interests in non-operative spine care, musculoskeletal medicine, and interventional spine procedures.

Her interest in physiatry began while competing as a gymnast in high school. As you could imagine, she spent her fair share of time in doctors' offices. After one injury led her to a local physiatrist, she became interested in the specialty and the impact it could have on a person's daily life.

Today, Dr.Willeford enjoys helping patients understand how pain affects their daily lives and working with them to find treatment options that fit their needs. She treats a wide range of spine and musculoskeletal conditions involving the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral spine, as well as the extremities.

When she's not hard at work in the office, you can find Dr. Willeford outside enjoying the sunshine and staying active with her husband. She loves snowboarding, hiking, running, sailing, traveling, and visiting family back home in North Myrtle Beach. ☀️🌊⛵

We're excited to welcome Samantha Eaton, PA-C, to Carolina NeuroSurgery & Spine Associates! 💙🩺

Samantha is originally from Michigan and recently made the move into neurosurgery after graduating from Wingate University's Physician Assistant program.

Healthcare first caught her attention while volunteering at a hospital in high school. Before PA school, she worked in cardiovascular services and spent her days performing cardiac stress tests and working with patients.

Samantha is joining the CNSA team with an interest in spine conditions and neurologic disorders. She was drawn to CNSA because of the people and the opportunity to learn from a team that works closely together.

Outside of work, Samantha enjoys just about anything that gets her outdoors. Whether she's spending time on the lake, working in her garden, playing pickleball, or walking her Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, she's happiest outside with friends and family. 🌿🐾

We're excited to welcome Dr. Bailey back to Carolina NeuroSurgery & Spine Associates! 💙🩺

Dr. Bailey is a board-certified physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, whom many CNSA patients may already recognize. He spent 12 years with the practice before relocating to Georgia to be closer to family. While there, he continued caring for patients with spine and musculoskeletal conditions and helping them get back to the activities they enjoy.

Now, he's returning to the team and is looking forward to seeing patients again alongside the colleagues and staff he worked with for so many years. As an avid "weekend warrior" himself, Dr. Bailey enjoys helping patients get back to doing the things they love.👨‍⚕️❤ He believes that when patients understand their condition and treatment options, they can take a more active role in their recovery.

Outside of work, you'll often find him spending time with his family, attending his daughters' theatre and orchestra performances, biking, traveling or adding another record to his growing vinyl collection. 🎭🚲🎵

For years, Butch Dawson pushed through constant back pain until it reached the point where he could barely stand up straight or walk without pain.

After previous treatment failed to fully resolve the issue, Butch turned to Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates in Greensboro, where Neurosurgeon Jeffrey D. Jenkins, MD, FACS, helped identify the true source of the problem and developed a plan to restore stability to his spine.👨‍⚕️🩺
