Real progress can change an entire family’s future.

One learner came to Highlights Healthcare with no functional way to communicate his needs and often relied on challenging behaviors to be understood. Over time, his communication grew, and with it came more safety, more independence, and more connection at home.

Every step forward can change life at home, too.
One of our learners has made tremendous progress since beginning services. When he started, communication was difficult, and not being able to express what he needed could sometimes lead to more significant behaviors.

Today, his voice is growing and so is his independence.
He's communicating more with his family, taking turns, greeting others and responding to greetings. He's started eating at the center, is making great progress with wearing underwear and potty training, and continues to build skills that make everyday life a little easier.

His mom has seen the difference at home, too. Being able to communicate his needs more effectively has helped reduce challenging moments and given him greater independence; something especially meaningful for a growing family.
This is why the work matters.

Every child deserves the opportunity to find their voice.

One of our learners began ABA therapy with very limited functional communication, often relying on challenging behaviors to express wants and needs. Over the past year, we've watched an incredible transformation.

Today, this child is independently using words to request favorite items and activities, greeting family members with a simple "hi" and "bye," and connecting with siblings in meaningful ways. Increased communication has led to greater safety, more independence with daily routines, and calmer experiences during situations that were once overwhelming, including visits to the dentist.

These aren't just milestones. They're moments that change everyday life for an entire family.

Some moments remind us exactly why we became BCBAs.
One child came to Highlights Healthcare with very few words and struggled to communicate with the world around them. Over time, something incredible happened. Those first words became conversations. Those isolated moments became friendships. The child who once struggled with transitions began asking to join peers, eating alongside others, and preparing to walk into kindergarten with confidence.

💙 Progress isn't always measured by the biggest milestones, it often begins with the smallest moments.

For one of our learners, something as simple as a trusted adult leaving the room could feel overwhelming. Through individualized ABA therapy, compassionate support, and collaboration with her family, she learned a new skill that changed more than just therapy sessions, it changed life at home, too.

Today, her parent reports that the skills she learned are carrying over into everyday life, making routines easier and fostering greater independence.

This is why we do what we do 💙

When this learner first began ABA therapy, everyday tasks felt overwhelming. He struggled with communication, emotional regulation, social interactions, and participating successfully at school. Even simple transitions could lead to frustration, and connecting with peers was a challenge.

Eighteen months later, his story looks very different.

Today, he's thriving in a mainstream elementary classroom, building friendships, playing games with classmates, expressing his emotions, advocating for his needs, and using the coping skills he's worked so hard to develop.

His success is a testament to what can happen when dedicated families, compassionate clinicians, and consistent ABA therapy come together.

Every milestone, big or small, is worth celebrating. We couldn't be more proud of how far he's come and can't wait to see all he'll accomplish in the years ahead. 💙
