If your child is sick ALL the time, your first thought might be: “Their immune system must be terrible.”
But… not so fast. 👀
Kids get sick. Especially once they’re in daycare or school and basically sharing germs like it’s their job.
But when parents tell me their child seems to be constantly run down, congested, coughing, or just not feeling their best, I like to zoom out.
How are they sleeping?
Are they getting enough protein and nutrient-dense foods?
Could stress be showing up in their sleep, appetite, or behavior?
Are there nutritional gaps worth discussing with their pediatrician?
And one we sometimes forget… what are they being exposed to every day?
Fragrances, cleaning sprays, smoke, mold, dust mites, pet dander, and poor indoor air quality can sometimes trigger or worsen symptoms that LOOK a whole lot like being sick.
It doesn’t mean one of these things is always the answer. And the goal certainly isn’t to raise a child who never catches a cold.
Sometimes we just need to zoom out and look at the whole child, not just the symptom.
Save this one for the next time you’re thinking, “Why are we sick AGAIN?!”
