I lost myself a little in my 30s.

I was raising babies, building my career, and trying to be everything everyone needed me to be.

And somewhere in the middle of all of that, **I stopped taking care of me.**

My health felt it. My energy felt it. My body felt it.

My 40s have been different.

I lift. I move my body. I take care of my hormones. I prioritize my health. I protect my peace. And at 41, I feel stronger, healthier, and more like **myself** than I have in years.

If you're reading this in your 20s or 30s, **don't wait until your kids are older to start choosing yourself.**

Don't wait until you're exhausted or your body forces you to pay attention.

Lift the weights. Eat the protein. Take the walk. Make the appointment. Protect your peace.

Your children don't need to watch you sacrifice every piece of yourself for them.

**Let them grow up watching a woman who knows she matters, too.**

And if you're already in your 40s?

Maybe this gets to be your strongest chapter yet. 🤍

**Reason #200 why our healthcare system doesn't always make sense...**

A patient recently picked up her estradiol patches using her insurance.

**Her cost? $65.**

The exact same medication would have been **$25 if she had paid cash.**

Read that again.

Insurance is supposed to save you money, but that's not always how it works. Between deductibles, copays, formularies, and negotiated pricing, you can sometimes pay **more** by using your insurance than by simply asking for the cash price.

This is one of the many reasons I don't structure my practice around the traditional insurance model. It often creates unnecessary barriers, higher costs, and frustration for patients instead of making healthcare simpler.

💡 **My advice:** Before you pay for a medication, lab, imaging study, or even a procedure, ask:

* "What's the cash price?"
* "Do you have a discount program?"
* "Is there a GoodRx or other savings option?"

It takes less than a minute to ask and could save you a significant amount of money.

Healthcare should be transparent. Your costs shouldn't be a surprise.

To pellet or not to pellet... 🤔

Here's my professional opinion.

Hormone pellets can be a good option for some people, but they're not my first choice for most patients. I believe hormone therapy should be safe, personalized, adjustable, and tailored to your body's changing needs—not a one-size-fits-all approach.

Every body is different, and the best treatment plan is the one that's built around you—not the other way around.

After years of practicing medicine and hearing hundreds of patient stories, I want to address something I've been seeing more and more.

GLP-1 medications are incredible tools—but they're just that...tools.

Some people believe the goal is to take the highest dose possible, completely eliminate their appetite, eat as little as possible, and watch the scale drop. But if that comes at the expense of muscle mass, healthy eating habits, strength, or long-term sustainability, are we really becoming healthier?

My approach is different.

I don't prescribe GLP-1s just to chase a number on the scale. I use them as part of a comprehensive metabolic health plan. That means personalized dosing, preserving muscle, prioritizing protein intake and strength training, addressing hormones and insulin resistance, and helping patients build habits they can maintain long after the medication is gone.

The truth is, no medication can outwork poor nutrition or lifestyle habits. If you're not willing to make meaningful changes to how you eat and move your body, a GLP-1 is unlikely to give you the lasting results you're hoping for—regardless of who prescribes it.

I've been doing this long enough to see both the incredible success stories and the disappointing outcomes. I simply can't ignore the difference that thoughtful medical management makes.

At Grace Vitality & Wellness, my goal isn't just to help you lose weight.

It's to help you become healthier, stronger, and set you up for long-term success.

Sometimes the best medical decision isn't increasing the dose—it's improving the foundation

These two women are the same age.

One made the decision, over many years, to prioritize her health. She focused on eating nutritious foods, building muscle, staying active, sleeping well, and addressing her hormones and metabolic health when her body needed support.

The other continued the same lifestyle habits while adding more and more medications as new health problems appeared. She managed disease—but never truly addressed the root causes that contributed to it.

Today, one is chasing her grandkids around the yard, traveling, and enjoying retirement.

The other loves her grandkids just as much, but she's exhausted by the time they leave. Every outing is harder. Every year feels heavier.

Aging is inevitable.

How we age is often influenced by the choices we make long before we become "old."

No one can guarantee a perfect outcome, and genetics certainly play a role. But we have far more influence over our future than we've been led to believe.

The best time to invest in your health was years ago. The second-best time is today.

If you're tired of being told that feeling exhausted, gaining weight, losing muscle, or "just getting older" is normal, I'd love to help you uncover what's really going on.

I've been telling women for years--PCOS is a metabolic condition! But it's solely been treated as a reproductive issue only for decades. Have PCOS?-here's some birth control (that's how our medical system has treated it for so long)
But women were never being told the health implications long term- insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes. A much higher risk in the 1 in 8 women that have this condition vs the women who don't.
This is good news for womens health and ladies. There is so much more that can be done for this condition that is no birth control.

How about a new little series- "walk and talk with me"

There's so much good, factual information in my brain, and so much misinformation out there that I thought this would be a fun way to provide you with researched based information. Or information based on my experiences as a provider.

HRT to augment your metabolic health is the real winner! 🏆

I had a patient tell me today how she went from not walking to walking a mile, and she finally built the confidence to walk 3 miles. She always felt 3 miles was a stretch for her, now it's a habit--next step is to get some weights on board!

It made me think of my own fitness journey. I had a love/hate relationship with the elliptical and treadmill for years. I hated the gym because it was always boring but I pushed through all the cardio stuff (until I stopped all together).

When I realized strength training was the missing piece 5 years ago I was very intimidated to start. Definitely not confident to lift weights in front of people, but I finally made the leap to go to the gym to strength train--nervous as I could be! But fast forward to almost 41. I've developed the confidence to lift weights in a room full of men, with machines I thought were only for men, and this barbell-I could barely pick it up when I started, and now it's my dear gym friend. I have the strength to pick up things I could never pick up before.

Building muscle is our metabolic powerhouse, our insurance for aging, and fat burner, and a long term journey. But if you're working with me, I can promise to nudge you out of your comfort zone to help you reach your goals. Fitness is part of my system with my patients and we can work together to help you go from no exercise to feeling confident in what you're doing!

I hear this all the time! "my labs looked ok" but yet their provider checked just a few things AND aren't considering optimal values.

if you want to live a long, high quality life--prevention (and catching things before they start) is the key.

and insurance won't cover prevention and longevity. they'll cover pills and procedures.

So if you're looking for something outside of traditional medicine, schedule a free call with us and let's chat to see if we are a fit for each other!
