I’m Kaylah, the founder and owner of Raine Waistbeads, and this brand began with my own journey toward loving my body.
In 2016, while struggling with body dysmorphia, I purchased my first strand of waistbeads in Harlem, New York. When I tied them around my waist, I felt a comfort I hadn’t experienced before. I could see beauty in a body I had spent years being unkind to.
That moment stayed with me. In 2020, I launched Raine Waistbeads with the hope of helping others experience that same sense of connection, confidence, and self acceptance.
The name Raine comes from the maiden name of my maternal ancestors. It honors my mother, my grandmother, and the generations of women whose love and guidance helped shape who I am. Their legacy is part of everything I create.
Today, Raine is a proudly Black owned, woman owned brand creating handcrafted, African inspired waistbeads with care and intention. We celebrate cultural heritage, individuality, and the beauty of bodies in every size and season of life.
Whether you wear your beads for self expression, a connection to your heritage, or a reminder to be gentler with yourself, I want you to feel welcome here. You deserve to feel beautiful in the body you have today.
