Post-op care isn’t just getting someone home from the hospital. At A Step Above Home Care, we look at the whole picture and help make recovery at home as comfortable and stress-free as possible.

From Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital to home, our recent post-op care has included:

💊 Picking up prescriptions and helping make sure medications are available

🛒 Grocery shopping and errands
🏡 Helping around the home so our Client can actually REST and RECOVER

And yes… that includes homemade meatloaf, cauliflower rice and tuna salad! 😊 Because sometimes feeling cared for starts with having good food ready in the refrigerator.

When family can't be there for every appointment, errand, meal or need, we can.

📸 Just some recent random photos of what we’ve been up to at A Step Above Home Care…

Because around here, “home care” can mean just about anything! ❤️

One day we’re organizing a freezer and making sure meals are stocked and easy to access. The next we’re grocery shopping alongside a Client, picking out exactly what they want. 🛒

🌸 And apparently we’ve become part-time landscapers too! 😂 Planting, arranging and watering beautiful fall mums to make a Client’s home feel a little brighter. Yes, that dirty hand is proof we actually do the work! 🪴😂

🍰 Sometimes it’s the little things — like bringing home a special treat from Lake Norman Cheesecakery just because we know it will make someone smile.

💻 And somewhere in between caring for Clients, running errands, digging in the dirt and being on the road… there’s still payroll, billing and all the behind-the-scenes work of running a home care agency. Sometimes the car becomes the office! 🚗💻

These pictures may seem random, but to us they all have something in common:

Taking care of the whole person — not just checking boxes on a care plan.

We notice the little things. We help with the things that make life easier. And sometimes we do things that probably aren't in the traditional definition of “home care.”

At A Step Above Home Care, home care isn’t about walking through the door, checking off a list, and doing the minimum. It’s about noticing the little things that can make a BIG difference in our Clients’ happiness, safety, comfort, and quality of life. ❤️

Here’s a little glimpse of what we’ve been up to lately…

🚙 Our Owner, Christie, hard at work in the field! She’s become quite the road warrior — because sometimes providing exceptional care means putting in a few extra miles.

🌸 A trip to Little Mountain Mums in Maiden, NC to pick out some absolutely gorgeous mums. Sometimes something as simple as beautiful flowers can brighten a home — and a day!

🚗 Following behind a Client after several car repairs and breakdowns just to make sure her car was FINALLY running like it should. Was it technically necessary? Maybe not. Did it provide an extra layer of safety and peace of mind? Absolutely. And THAT is what matters to us.

🍤 You buy the shrimp…we’ll prepare it for your perfect shrimp cocktail! Because home care can also mean preparing the foods you love and taking care of those little tasks that make life easier — and tastier. 😋
