Great to have C.U.B. Entrepreneurs visit us today!
CUB Entrepreneurs is a STEM and entrepreneurship-focused summer camp serving rising 1st through 6th graders from Augusta County and Staunton. Throughout the three-week program, campers develop their own business concepts and presentations.
During their visit to Icarus, they explored our print farm and got a behind-the-scenes look at what powers a growing startup. Our founder, Dave, shared the dedication, innovation, and problem-solving that go into creating products that can make a meaningful difference in people's lives, sometimes before they even realize a solution exists.

We are honored to share that Icarus Medical has been recognized with the 2026 CBIC Startup of the Year Award by the Charlottesville Business Innovation Council (CBIC).

Icarus Medical started as a personal mission. Our Founder and CEO, Dave Johnson, began developing a new class of bracing technology after dealing with his own severe knee issues and searching for a better solution that would allow him to stay active and continue doing the things he loved. What started as a solution for one patient has grown into a company helping thousands of people stay mobile, reduce pain, and regain independence.

Thank you to CBIC for supporting innovation and entrepreneurship throughout our region, and congratulations to all the other award winners and finalists helping shape Charlottesville’s future.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

At the recent Special Operations Medical Association conference, we had the privilege of speaking with many of the people working on the front lines of military medicine and casualty care. Their dedication and commitment to protecting others was truly inspiring.

Since then, we’ve had some incredible conversations and made meaningful progress exploring how Icarus technology could help support soldiers on the front lines and potentially play a role in reducing battlefield casualties. It is a mission that means a great deal to our team, and we are honored to contribute in any way we can.
