Apparently Nantucket wasn’t finished with me this morning.

Right after posting about the white feather I found at my feet—and wondering whether divinity might be far more ordinary, embodied and here than I allow myself to believe—I sat beside a pond filled with mallards.

Then I looked up.

Twenty feet away, a small deer was standing there, staring directly at me.

Now, I don’t necessarily think the universe dispatched Deer #742 to Nantucket with a special message for Valerie. 😂 The deer and ducks here are used to people. None of this requires a supernatural explanation.

But maybe that’s exactly the point.

What if what is changing isn’t what the universe is sending me—but what I’m capable of noticing?

The feather isn’t evidence of the Divine.
The ducks aren’t evidence of the Divine.
The deer isn’t evidence of the Divine.

What if they’re simply expressions of the same thing I am?

I like proof. But perhaps I’m loosening the requirement that meaning must be provable before I’m allowed to experience it.

I don’t need to decide the deer was sent to me.

I can simply notice:

Something in me is unusually awake here.

Maybe Nantucket isn’t giving me answers.

Maybe Nantucket is making it easier for me to hear myself.

Although Deer #742 certainly has impeccable timing.

This morning, walking out of a smoothie shop on Nantucket, I found a white feather at my feet.

Nantucket is an immensely, deeply meaningful place for me. I return year after year, and there is something here that feels like more than simply loving a beautiful place.

It feels familiar.

Like recognition without a memory attached to it.

I’ve been wondering what it is I recognize here. And that question stirred up another one:

What if, despite everything I believe about consciousness, multidimensionality and the Divine, some part of me still doesn’t completely trust that I am of divine origin, too?

What if I have spent much of my life believing that divinity exists—but somehow excluding myself from it?

That landed.

Maybe I don’t need to convince myself that I’m divine.

Maybe I can simply become willing to question the belief that I am anything less.

Put the old belief on trial instead of putting yourself on trial.

And then this morning, here on this island that means so much to me, there was this feather.

Proof? No. And I like proof.

But maybe synchronicity doesn’t have to be proof to have meaning.

Maybe divinity is ordinary.
Maybe it’s embodied.
Maybe it’s already here.

Maybe the real shift isn’t learning to believe more strongly in the Divine.

Maybe it’s finally considering the possibility that we were never separate from it in the first place.
