Best Midlife Ever

Best Midlife Ever Helping women build their Best Midlife Ever through strength, wellness, healthcare advocacy, and real talk about aging powerfully. Aging can be tough!

I am a 60-something Registered Nurse and Nationally Board-Certified Health & Wellness Coach. My most important credential is that I have struggled, grown, learned, and awakened that powerful inner self along the way. I am still a work in progress and probably always will be! What happens to that body after 40? Oh, and how about that menopause challenge? Then you can get hit with an empty nest and

a chronic disease or worse! I have had my share of health and life issues and know that working on the mind-body-spirit connection has made all the difference. I WANT THAT FOR YOU ALL. I am always excited when I can share what I have experienced and guide women to their answers where they overcome limiting beliefs, worry, and uncertainty and start aging with confidence and radiance. To age well, we have to become more aware of our inner self, find the right tools, and do the deep work. That is why I promote Conscious Aging and my framework L.E.A.P. into Midlife with Confidence and Radiance. L = Love of Self
E = Energetic Body
A = Agile Mind
P = Peace & Purpose

We can live healthier, look better, and live longer and happier when we tap into this magnificent person inside!

I’m so excited to welcome you to the very first episode of Conversations with Lorie―a new chapter for my 💃 Don’t Let The Old Lady In podcast and, I hope, for you as well.

Each week, we’ll sit down together for honest, encouraging conversations about healthy aging, wellness, mindset, purpose, and creating your healthiest chapter yet.

Think of it as two friends having a meaningful conversation―one that leaves you feeling inspired, empowered, and ready to take one small step toward living with more energy, confidence, and joy.

Have you ever had the feeling that your body was trying to tell you something...but life was simply too busy to listen?

For years, I ignored some of the whispers in my own life. Other times, listening to those quiet nudges completely changed my path.

That’s exactly what I share in my first Conversations with Lorie. The podcast drops tomorrow morning.

I’ll also have a video for you on You Tube as well.

This isn’t a conversation filled with health tips or another long to-do list.

It’s an invitation to slow down, become curious, and reconnect with the wisdom that’s already inside you.

As you listen, I’d love for you to think about one simple question:

What has your body been trying to tell you lately?

📕I’m reading the book Daughter Drink this Water by Jaiya John again.

It’s like reading poetry.

Here are a couple excerpts I enjoy:

“Daughter, I am going to tell you a secret: you are the best thing that ever happened to you. When you feel this, and you know this, you will be free.”

“The first act in a beautiful life is to recognize the truth of who and what you are. You are sacredness. As long as you stay in the truth, you may have a beautiful life.”

What is one small act of kindness you can do for yourself this week? ❤️

There's a moment in the hospital no one prepares you for. Something feels off — and you can't quite explain it. You're not a doctor. You don't have proof. But you feel it.

Most people stay quiet. Not because they don't care, but because they're afraid of being wrong.

Here's the reframe: instead of "What if I'm wrong?" ask "What if I'm right?" If you're wrong, someone takes another look and everything's fine. If you're right, you may have just prevented something serious.

You're not overreacting. You're paying attention. 💬

Tune into this week's episode on Don't Let the Old Lady In.

If you’ve been following my Hospital Safety Series, thank you.

My hope is that those episodes gave you the confidence to navigate the healthcare system, ask better questions, and become a stronger advocate for yourself or someone you love.

But good health is about so much more than what happens in a hospital.

Starting next week, we’re beginning a new chapter on the 💃 Don’t Let The Old Lady In podcast.

Conversations with Lorie is about creating your healthiest chapter yet—not just preventing illness, but building energy, strength, confidence, purpose, and a life that feels bigger, not smaller, as you age.

We’ll have honest conversations about healthy aging, mindset, relationships, self-love, resilience, and the everyday choices that help you feel your very best.

I hope you’ll join me.

Because getting older is inevitable… but decline is optional.

I’ll see you next week for our very first Conversation with Lorie.

This is for all my longevity friends! 😍

I really enjoyed reading this new article on longevity from Yale University

It’s titled, Aging Redefined: Cognitive and Physical Improvement with Positive Age Beliefs by Becca Rx Levy et al. Geriatrics.

The study analyzed data from over 11,000 older adults, tracked for up to 12 years.

The findings were very positive and suggested that improvement in later life is common and should be included in our understanding of aging. This research opens up discussions about the importance of mindset and societal beliefs regarding aging, indicating that fostering positive views on age could lead to better health outcomes for older adults.

AMEN.

I would love to hear what you all think of this and what you’ve experienced with your beliefs and mindset.

The biggest mistake families make in the hospital...

It’s not asking the wrong question.

It’s asking no question at all.

We stay quiet because we don’t want to bother anyone.

But here’s what I’ve learned after more than 45 years as a nurse...

Healthcare works best when families become partners.

Your questions matter.

Your observations matter.

Your voice matters.

If you've ever stood in a hospital room thinking "something's not right" but didn't know how to say it — this one's for you.

The hardest part of advocating isn't knowing what's wrong. It's finding the words when you're unsure, intimidated, or worried you'll sound silly. So I wrote them down for you.

Listen to this week's episode for the exact phrases - from "something feels off" to what to say if you get brushed aside. Bookmark it.

You'll be glad it's there when you need it.

There’s a moment that happens in the hospital that no one prepares you for.

Something feels off.

You can’t fully explain it.

 You don’t have proof.

 You’re not a doctor or a nurse.

But you feel it.

And in that moment, you have a choice:
👉 Speak up… or stay quiet.

Most people stay quiet.

Not because they don’t care—

But because they’re unsure, uncomfortable, or afraid of being wrong.

You don’t need to diagnose anything.
You don’t need to be certain.

👉 You just need to know how to speak.

Listen to this week’s 💃Don’t Let The Old Lady In podcast to learn how to speak up with confidence. It drops tomorrow at 7 AM.
