Flu Clinic and Community Health Fair

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Walgreens, Mount Canaan Church, and Purpose Point are teaming up to help our community get ready for the 2026 flu season. Join us on Saturday, September 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Mount Canaan Church for a Flu Clinic and Free Community Health Fair. Enjoy free health screenings for blood pressure and blood sugar, plus the Memorial Mammogram bus will be on-site. To schedule your mammogram, call 423-535-7224. This event is free and open to everyone—if you have insurance, please bring your card. We’re excited to support your health and wellness this flu season.

Early Analysis Points to Double Digit ACA Premium Increases

A preliminary analysis of Affordable Care Act Marketplace rate filings by KFF and the Georgetown University Center on Health Insurance Reform found insurers are proposing an average premium increase of 14% for 2027 across 16 states. If approved, it would mark the second consecutive year of double-digit premium increases. The analysis found insurers attributed the proposed increases to rising healthcare costs, higher utilization, and the expiration of the enhanced premium tax credits, which reduced Marketplace premiums through the end of 2026. While final rates will not be approved until later this summer, the early filings suggest consumers purchasing coverage on the individual market could face significantly higher premiums next year.
