It is a place for rest, reconnection, and soulful discussions. A SACRED COMMUNITY
A "Red Tent" is a very special place. It is a beautiful womb-like space, draped in red fabric and filled with comfortable seating and cushions, where we come together to find rest, nourishment, and community. We reconnect with the seasons and cycles of Mother Nature, and our own bodies. When we gather virtually, we f
ind ways to make our own individual spaces special, cozy and nourishing. HOW IT STARTED
The Chattanooga Red Tent was established in 2017 by Michelle Rigling and Janet Thomas. The Chattanooga Red Tent is part of The Red Tent Movement. There are hundreds of Red Tent chapters around the world. RED TENT GATHERINGS
Red Tent gatherings are a time for multi-generational wisdom sharing, storytelling, brave conversation, soulful creativity and nourishing rest. We often discuss things we sometimes can't talk about anywhere else and we find ways to celebrate and honor our experiences and life stories. In the Red Tent, we have time, space and support to rest and reconnect to our intuition. The Red Tent means something a little different to everyone who experiences it. For many it offers a place to find healing, time to relax and nourishment. For others, it is a place to connect with our moon cycles and the natural rhythms of the earth. Each gathering is different. We may laugh, sing, journal or create. We bask ourselves in self-love rituals. We also read, share poems and stories, and celebrate rites of passage. SAFE SPACE & AUTHENTICITY
We are committed to creating an open, accepting environment free of judgment or expectations to "do" anything. Sharing in the talking circle is always optional. Members are welcome to come and relax, honoring their right to rest in silence and be held by others. When we come to the Red Tent, we come as we are. We are committed to creating an open, accepting environment, free of judgment or expectations. CHILDREN
Many gatherings include discussions intended for mature audiences. We do have several circles throughout the year that welcome young girls. This information will be in the gathering description. HOST & ORGANIZER
The Chattanooga Red Tent is facilitated by Michelle Rigling. From 2017-2020, Michelle organized Celebrate Your Existence, a women's group in Chattanooga, and this group hosted each Red Tent circle. As of January 2021, Michelle's new practice, The Cavewoman Way, will be the new host. Since 2015, Michelle has led over 150 groups, retreats and wellness events in the Chattanooga area. WEBSITE
