Family Testimonial ๐Ÿ’—

โ€œShe loved you guys so much.
Thanks for loving her. ๐Ÿ’—

And from the bottom of my heartโ€ฆ thank you, Kat, for all your support and kindness. It wonโ€™t ever be forgotten.โ€

โ€” Arlene, daughter of a former resident

These are the words that mean the most to us.

Caring for someone at the end of their life is about so much more than meeting their daily needs. Itโ€™s about knowing them, loving them, supporting their family, and making sure they feel at home.

Thank you, Arlene, for trusting Best Quality Care Home with someone so precious to you. It was truly an honor to be part of her life. ๐Ÿ’—

Sometimes the signs that an aging loved one needs more support are easy to miss.

There may not be one major event. Instead, families often notice small changes over time:

๐Ÿฅ— Meals are being skipped or weight is changing
๐Ÿ’Š Medications are forgotten or taken incorrectly
๐Ÿ“ฌ Mail and bills are beginning to pile up
๐Ÿงน Housekeeping or personal hygiene has declined
๐Ÿฉน Falls, bruises, or balance problems are becoming more frequent
๐Ÿง  Confusion, forgetfulness, or isolation is increasing

And when you ask how things are going?

โ€œIโ€™m fine. You donโ€™t need to worry about me.โ€

These changes donโ€™t automatically mean someone can no longer live independentlyโ€”but they are worth paying attention to.

Aging adults may minimize difficulties because they value their independence and donโ€™t want to become a burden on their family. That can leave adult children wondering when concern becomes a reason to act.

At Best Quality Care Home, we encourage families to start these conversations earlyโ€”before an emergency makes the decision for you.

Ask questions. Observe changes. Talk with healthcare providers. Explore what additional support is available.

And if the time comes when living alone is no longer the safest option, an Adult Family Home can provide 24-hour care and supervision in a smaller, residential setting while helping residents maintain dignity, routine, and as much independence as possible.

Recognizing that someone needs more support isnโ€™t taking away their independence.

Sometimes, itโ€™s what helps protect it.

๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘ด๐Ÿฝ October 1 is International Day of Older Persons

Healthy aging involves much more than simply treating medical conditions.

As we age, changes in mobility, balance, vision, hearing, cognition, nutrition and medication needs can all affect health and independence.

Quality senior care means paying attention to those changes and responding early.

At Best Quality Care Homes, our focus is on supporting each residentโ€™s individual needs while promoting:

โ€ข Safety and fall prevention
โ€ข Proper medication management
โ€ข Nutrition and hydration
โ€ข Mobility and physical activity
โ€ข Social and cognitive engagement
โ€ข Preventive healthcare
โ€ข Independence whenever safely possible

Aging is different for every person. Good care should be, too.

Today, on International Day of Older Persons, weโ€™re bringing attention to the importance of informed, individualized care for our aging population.

๐Ÿ’ง Dehydration Can Look Different in Older Adults

As we age, our sense of thirst can decrease. Certain medications, medical conditions, mobility limitations and memory changes can also make it more difficult for older adults to drink enough fluids.

And dehydration doesnโ€™t always begin with someone saying, โ€œIโ€™m thirsty.โ€

Signs to watch for may include:

โ€ข Dry mouth or lips
โ€ข Darker or decreased urine
โ€ข Dizziness or weakness
โ€ข Increased fatigue
โ€ข Headache
โ€ข Constipation
โ€ข Decreased appetite
โ€ข Low blood pressure
โ€ข New or increased confusion

For older adults, even mild dehydration can contribute to falls, constipation, urinary problems and changes in mental status.

Hydration support can be as simple as offering fluids regularly, keeping drinks within reach, offering preferred beverages and providing foods with higher water content when appropriate.

Caregivers should also know what is normal for each resident so changes in intake, urinary output, behavior or function can be recognized and reported.

Some medical conditions require fluid restrictions, so hydration recommendations should always follow the individualโ€™s healthcare plan.

๐Ÿ’ง Hydration is an important part of senior health.

๐Ÿ’Š Happy World Pharmacists Day!

Today, Best Quality Care Home Chehalis celebrates the pharmacists who play such an important role in the health and well-being of our residents and seniors everywhere.

In senior care, pharmacists are so much more than the people who fill prescriptions. They are an important part of the care team โ€” helping ensure medications are accurate and safe, answering questions, navigating medication changes, and providing valuable knowledge and support when itโ€™s needed.

When caring for older adults who may have multiple medications and changing health needs, having knowledgeable and dependable pharmacy professionals working alongside caregivers, nurses, providers, residents, and families is incredibly valuable.

Today we simply want to say thank you to the pharmacists who dedicate their careers to caring for others. Your knowledge, attention to detail, patience, and commitment make a difference every single day.

From all of us at Best Quality Care Home, Happy World Pharmacists Day! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ’Š

๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ Learning. Growing. Staying connected. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‚

Nick & Kat are attending the Adult Family Home Council Annual Fall Conference!

There is always something new to learn in senior care. Regulations change, new resources become available, and there are always different ideas and perspectives to discover. Continuing education gives us the opportunity to stay informed, ask questions, connect with other providers, and continue growing in the work we do.

We believe being a great provider means never becoming too comfortable to keep learning. There is always room to grow, improve, and learn something new. โค๏ธ

Weโ€™re grateful for opportunities like this to invest in education and be part of the adult family home community. ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ
