⚡️ Does your low back hurt when you bend forward, stand up, or reach for something?

💆‍♀️ Have you tried stretching, massage, foam rolling, chiropractic care, or physical therapy, but the pain keeps coming back?

What if the problem isn’t actually in your low back?

Many people are surprised to learn that low back pain can sometimes be driven by adhesions and nerve entrapments in the abdomen.

Nerves travel throughout the body, and when they become restricted along their pathway, the symptoms can show up somewhere else entirely. In some cases, what feels like a low back problem may actually be coming from tissues in the front of the body.

This is one of the reasons some people continue to struggle with pain despite treating the area that hurts.

At Lakeside, we look beyond the site of symptoms to identify and treat restrictions that may be contributing to the problem.

If you’ve:
✅ Had pain for 3+ months
✅ Seen 3+ providers
✅ Tried multiple treatments without lasting relief

There may be more to the story than just your low back.

“Plantar fasciitis” is often treated like just a fascia problem. And often, it tends to come right back.

What we commonly see is that the nerves in the foot are involved — especially where the tibial nerve passes through the tarsal tunnel on the inside of the ankle before branching into the bottom of the foot.

When that nerve becomes restricted, it can create pain through the heel, arch, or bottom of the foot that looks and feels a lot like plantar fasciitis.

That’s why things like boots, cortisone shots, stretching, or rolling the bottom of the foot don’t always create lasting relief.

If the nerve is the real issue, the goal has to be restoring proper nerve glide — not just calming down the fascia.

If you have

✅ had pain or symptoms for 3+ months

✅ seen 3+ providers — massage, physical therapy, traditional chiropractor

✅ feel like you’ve tried everything — resting, a boot, cortisone injections, stretching, massage - with no lasting relief

…it may be a nerve issue!

That stubborn hip pain and tightness that just won’t let go…

The one that flares with walking, sitting too long, getting out of the car, or even trying to sleep on your side.

The deep ache in the front, side, or back of the hip that stretching, rolling, and strengthening never seem to fully fix.

That’s what he had been dealing with.

This case had multiple layers.

One of the biggest drivers was a nerve having restricted glide due to adhesions and tension in the front of the hip where the crease is.

When that nerve loses its ability to move freely, the nervous system ramps up protective guarding across the hip.

Releasing and restoring glide to the nerves in the deep hip so it can move normally again.

When the nerve glides freely, the guarding response across the surrounding hip muscles can finally begin to calm down.

If you’ve been dealing with:
- Nagging hip pain or deep tightness that won’t release
- Pain or limitation with walking, sitting, standing, or daily movement
- Treatments that give only temporary relief

Chronic hip pain can be fixed

That stubborn hip pain and tightness that just won’t let go…

The one that flares with walking, sitting too long, getting out of the car, or even trying to sleep on your side.

The deep ache in the front, side, or back of the hip that stretching, rolling, and strengthening never seem to fully fix.

That’s what he had been dealing with.

Along with pain or pulling into the glute, front of the hip, and sometimes down the leg.

What we found

This case had multiple layers.

But one of the biggest drivers was the femoral nerve having restricted glide due to adhesions and tension in the front of the hip where the crease is

When that nerve loses its ability to move freely, the nervous system ramps up protective guarding across the hip. And with more than 17 muscles directly controlling and supporting the hip joint, that guarding can create stubborn tightness or pain in spots that aren’t the real source. And worse, then decrease in function only accelerates joint degeneration

That guarding is often what people feel as the chronic “hip knot,” deep ache, or constant tension that keeps coming back making them dread standing up, sitting down, playing basketball, etc

Why this matters

If we only chase the painful or tight area itself…

…it can actually keep the protective response fired up.

Because the tightness or pain may not be the primary problem.

It’s often the body protecting something deeper — like nerve mobility.

What we show in this video

Releasing and restoring glide to the nerves in the deep hip so it can move normally again. When the nerve glides freely, the guarding response across the surrounding hip muscles can finally begin to calm down.
The approach

Cases like this have to be carefully “unlayered.”

We don’t just treat where it hurts.

We identify:

• The worst restriction
• The biggest driver
• The most protective areas among the many hip muscles

Then work through the system step by step.

**The takeaway**

Not every hip tightness or ache is the actual problem.

Sometimes it’s the result of a nerve restriction creating protective guarding somewhere else in the hip’s complex system of more than 17 muscles.

Find the driver.
Reduce the guarding.
Restore smooth movement.

**📌 KEY POINTS**

• Stubborn hip pain or tightness is often protective guarding
• Nerve restrictions can drive tension across the hip’s 17+ muscles
• The source isn’t always where it hurts
• Treating only the symptom can keep the cycle going
• Unlayering creates sustainable change without relying on pills, injections, or surgery

**📣 CALL TO ACTION**

If you’ve been dealing with:

• That nagging hip pain or deep tightness that won’t release
• Pain or limitation with walking, sitting, standing, or daily movement
• Treatments that give only temporary relief
• Feeling stuck, frustrated, and tired of being held back — while wanting to avoid surgery, pills, or injections

Pain within a movement tells us something.

In this case, external rotation was both limited and uncomfortable.

When we started palpating through the armpit, it recreated her symptoms, which helps point us in the right direction.

We’re paying attention to how the joint moves, where it feels off, and what brings those symptoms on.

When those things line up, it gives us a good idea of where to focus our treatment.

Reassessment always follows to see what changes have been made, if any. Here, changes were seen in both external rotation and the location of symptoms at end range.

Do you ever feel like you have a rib out of place? 🥵

Does it never seem to go away no matter what you try - traditional chiropractics, massage, stretching, resting?

💬 RIBS if this is something you struggle with!

This is one of the most common mid-back complaints that we get from patients.

Common symptoms include pain while seated, turning over in bed, taking a deep breath, and twisting.

It may even feel like the pain wraps around your side to the front of the body.

Sometimes, the rib is not even the problem. Often times, we find a lot of tension in muscles in the back.

There is one particular muscle that we have found to be a common culprit: longissimus thoracis.

The longissimus thoracis is a major stabilizer that runs parallel to the spine and connects to ever rib along the way.

If there are adhesions along the longissimus thoracis, it can become chronically tight. If it is chronically tight, it will be constantly tugging on the ribs, which may make it feel like a rib is out of place.

💬 RIBS if you’re ready to treat your rib discomfort at the source!
