Starting the day on a high note! 🎶

We recently highlighted Teaching Assistant Gerrell Mosley-Brown in our We Are Bancroft series for the joy she brings to students at The Bancroft School each morning through music and dance.

“Music is universal. Music is a mood setter,” says Gerrell. “And who doesn’t like a great morning groove to start their day!”

Every day, across the Bancroft School Network, team members like Gerrell bring their talents, creativity, and heart to our classrooms and hallways, making school a place where students can learn, have fun, and feel they belong.

Bancroft is now hiring paraprofessionals across our school campuses. In this role, you’ll work alongside a dedicated team to support students as they learn, grow, and work toward their goals. Janita Wise has spent 27 years at Bancroft, beginning her career as a Direct Support Professional and growing into her role as Senior Program Director for our New Jersey residential programs.

Along the way, she has supported individuals, mentored teams, and helped shape the programs she leads today.

“You can learn the skills,” Janita says, “but if you have the heart and integrity, everything else will come together.”

This Women’s History Month, we’re proud to spotlight Janita as one of the women shaping Bancroft’s history.

When Maggie asked her students where they wanted to eat lunch, one of them chose the classroom because that’s where they felt at home.

It’s a small moment, but it says so much about the kind of teacher she is and the space she’s created for her students. The kind where kids feel safe, supported, and comfortable being themselves.

We’re grateful for teachers like Maggie and the care they bring to Bancroft.
