1 out of 10am Americans have access to health insurance. As part of my personal story, I have personally experienced the impact of this statistic.

However, access to healthcare only is not enough. There are social factors, that Dr King fought for, that contribute to health issues.

There are many outcomes that stem from racism and discrimination that reaches other aspects of our lives. Racism and/or discrimination is a key contributing factor in the beginning of disease.
The CDC has states, “These conditions—often referred to as social determinants of health—are key drivers of health inequities within communities of color, placing those within these populations at greater risk for poor health outcomes.”
