Fight the bite by avoiding tick-infested areas.

The best way to avoid a tick bite is to avoid the areas where ticks prefer to hang out. This is especially important in May, June and July – right about the time you want to get outdoors!

Avoid contact with overgrown grass, brush and leaf litter, ticks love to hide in these areas.

Stick to the middle of the trail and stay away from the trail edges.

Repel the pests, enjoy the rest. 🦟☀️

Memorial Day weekend means more time outdoors – and more exposure to mosquitoes and ticks. Holiday fun is better bite-free, so protect your crew and don’t let bug bites ruin the long weekend. Stay safe, stay covered, and enjoy the outdoors!

✅ Use EPA-registered insect repellent
✅ Wear long sleeves & light-colored clothing
✅ Check for ticks after spending time outdoors
✅ Remove standing water around your home
✅ Keep pets protected too

IDPH Urges Illinoisans to ‘Fight the Bite’ and Avoid Ticks During Lyme Disease Awareness Month. With warm weather quickly approaching, we are seeing ticks become very active.

If you plan on spending time outside make sure you apply an EPA-registered repellent, wear light colored and long sleeved clothing, and avoid tall grass. Perform a tick check on yourself, your children and your pets shortly after returning from the outdoors.
