Today, we observe International Thalassemia Day.
Every year on May 8th, the global thalassemia community comes together to raise awareness, honor the lives of those affected, and demand action.
This year's theme is Hidden No More: Finding the Undiagnosed. Supporting the Unseen. International Thalassemia Day shines a light on those who remain unseen - people living without diagnosis, without support, and without recognition. This year, we call on the world to bring them into view.
The Comprehensive Thalassemia Program at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago is dedicated to supporting thalassemia patients and their families with compassionate, high-quality care from diagnosis through lifelong management.
