We all know getting in to see a specialist, like a Urogynecologist, can take Months! This is why I have always recommended Primary Care Physicians make a Simultaneous Referral to Pelvic Floor PT as well as Urogynecology. Best case scenario, that patient is already feeling better by the time they see the specialist. Worst case scenario, they have that specialist appointment on the books!

The pelvic floor muscles are like a trampoline that runs from your p***c bone to your tailbone and both butt bones. They do a lot of work to keep you functioning without you even thinking about - until something goes wrong!

The 5 S's of Pelvic Floor Muscle Function:
Sphincter: These are the muscles that close and open the bladder and bowels
Sexual: These muscles are critical to arousal, er****on, insertion, and or**sm. If you decide to have children they also are going to support the pregnancy and stretch during birth
Support: The pelvic floor muscles support your organs to stay in place as you run, jump, sneeze, and lift heavy objects
Stability: The pelvic floor muscles are posture muscles as well. They work together with your core and back muscles to keep you upright
Sump Pump: Your pelvic floor muscles assist with breathing and improving circulation.

We frequently get asked "Do I need pelvic PT?" and, if you're asking, the answer is probably yeah!

Here is our memorable 6 P's of people who need Pelvic PT!
Peeing and Pooping: This could be issues with keeping it in or trouble with getting it out. Any pain with going to the bathroom would also be reason to see a pelvic PT
Playtime: Whether solo or partnered, intimacy should be as pain free and fun as you want it to be. Both the giving and the receiving partner can be impacted by pelvic floor issues in this department and can benefit from pelvic PT
Pelvic Pain: The pelvic floor muscles and nerves can cause pelvic pain too. Think like a charley horse or sciatica in the downstairs areas.
Pregnancy / Postpartum: This is usually the first thing that comes to mind when people think of pelvic floor PT! Pain, leaking, and scar issues are often brushed off as part of the package of childbirth and parenting but you don't have to suffer! Pelvic PT can get you back to doing what you enjoy while you navigate this transition
Post Surgical: Abdominal and pelvic surgeries can cause scar issues and pelvic floor dysfunction. Whether it's a C section, cancer care, or gender affirming treatment, Pelvic PT can help you heal

You may fit into one category or you may see yourself in every category. Either way it's worth the conversation to see how pelvic PT can help. Want to learn more? Follow along here or self schedule an evaluation at our website (link in bio)

Are you scrolling late at night? Trouble sleeping because of infant sleep patterns or toddlers skipping naptime? This talk is for you!!

In this talk, we'll discuss the 5 W's (who, what, when, where, and whys) for different sleep transitions that affect every baby and kiddo! We'll cover two major topics: 1) nap transitions--from many naps during infancy to when to drop the nap completely, and 2) where to sleep--crib to toddler bed to big kid bed transitions. Come ready with your questions because I'll have time for a Q&A. This talk is good for parents with babies and kiddos of any age!
