Let’s talk about diagnoses.

While working in the clinic, I use to work with an ortho doctor that wrote “adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder)” for EVERY shoulder patient. True frozen shoulder happens in 5% of the general population.

The other common diagnosis I received was carpal tunnel for any wrist or hand issue. Especially coming from general practitioners. And often the diagnosis is wrong.

I don’t put a lot of weight on what diagnosis you come to me with, because I understand that blindly trusting what’s written on a piece of paper and following the therapy protocol for that diagnosis isn’t as effective as listening to your patient, looking at your skin and knowing the anatomy and science of pain.

I’ve helped a lot of people that have sought therapy elsewhere for their pain with little to no results.

We need to address the pain first. You should not leave therapy in more pain than you walked in.

Happy Monday everyone!

I want to make one thing clear. What I offer isn’t a gimmick. It’s based on looking at the body in a different way than we were traditionally taught. This has made the manual therapy I provide more targeted and effective. Being out of the system the last few years have really opened my eyes to how difficult it is make systemic changes when technology and research has afforded us so much new and valuable info.

You shouldn’t leave a therapy session in more pain than when you walked in.

And just because you don’t have a “diagnosis” does not mean you won’t benefit from my services. If you are experiencing pain,numbness,tingling-reach out today!

Did you know there’s only ~6000 certified hand therapists in the states? This is a highly specialized certification within the therapy world.
Despite the title, CHTs are not only specialized in the hands but in the whole arm.

Happy hand therapy week to all the CHTs making a difference!

The way I treat tennis elbow has changed dramatically in the last three years. Historically, Tennis elbow protocols have been focusing on your wrist extensors due to some research in the 90s (that’s over 30 years ago!!) It works for some and not for many and why it is seen as a “difficult” diagnosis in our field. So why aren’t we looking for better options?

When approaching tennis elbow using Kinesioalisontaylor techniques, I look at your skin, fascial lines and joint alignment in the elbow. I’ve had great success in helping patients with pain in less time using these concepts. Many of my patients have had therapy elsewhere with little to no relief.

These concepts not only work for tennis elbow but for pain in other parts of the body.

Your skin is key. Knowing the anatomy as a system is key.

If you’re in pain and curious about these techniques reach out!

The SKIN is the largest organ in the body with the most sensory receptors! I was able to put the langers lines over the fascia line image from the Anatomy Trains( Thomas Myers) to show what I visualize when treating my patients. I meticulously work with tiny tools and tuning forks to free the the skin in the directions of these lines to eliminate PAIN, improve ROM, strength, speed and coordination. As the primary sensory system -nerves in the skin will be responsible for the fascia, muscle and joints movements below the area it covers. The tighter the skin, or more adherent to an area the more limited the function. This is true for not just orthopedic but neurological patients.
Therapy is based on retraining the muscles and joints but SHOULD BE FOCUSED on the skin that is above the muscles and joints- since that is where most of the information is coming from!

My last three years have been devoted to research on how our sensory system is one of the most important systems when addressing pain. The newer research looking at scars, skin and fascial lines have helped me become more effective with pain relief than ever before.

Since starting my practice, I have helped people whose next step was surgery AVOID surgery all together.

I have helped patients who were told by multiple medical professionals that the pain they were experiencing was “normal”

I have helped active people stay active by reducing their pain and improving body mechanics.

All the “tools” I’ve learned in the last 25 years have only become more effective with the integration of the newer research.

If you’re struggling with pain or curious about wellness benefits of my techniques-reach out!

PSA for today. You don’t need to be in severe pain to work with me. If you have areas of consistent tightness or soreness, it’s your body giving you a signal something isn’t right. And taking care of that now will decrease your risk of having an actual injury or pathology in the future. Self care is the best care!
