Our mission is to provide a platform for African American breast cancer survivors to use their voices to drive health system change globally.

I'm incredibly honored and deeply grateful.
Thank you to the Chicago Foundation for Women South Side Giving Circle for believing in the vision of Elevated Survivorship by awarding us a $15,000 General Operating Support Grant, and for the honor of selecting me as a recipient of the $3,000 Leadership Award.
These investments are about so much more than funding—they are an investment in the power of lived experience. They affirm that African American breast cancer survivors deserve a seat at every table where research, policy, and decisions about our health are being made.
This support allows us to continue advancing The Pinkprint: A Strategy to Address Breast Cancer Mortality in African American Women on Chicago's South Side, ensuring that survivor voices help shape the systems intended to serve us.
To our board, partners, volunteers, survivors, and everyone who has believed in this work—thank you. This recognition belongs to all of us.
The work continues, and we're just getting started.

Advocacy starts with understanding how decisions are made.

Last week, Elevated Survivorship Community Ambassadors attended a Cook County Board meeting to learn more about local government, public policy, and how community voices can influence change. The experience provided a firsthand look at the legislative process and reinforced the important role advocacy plays in advancing health equity and improving outcomes in our communities.

We believe informed advocates are powerful advocates, and we’re proud to continue building the next generation of leaders who are prepared to speak up, show up, and help shape policies that impact the lives of breast cancer survivors and their families.

to February: Advocacy in Action

In February, Equal Hope, Elevated Survivorship, and Health Ambassadors came together in Springfield to advocate for stronger support for our communities. Together, we pushed for amendments to the BEST Act and $17 million in funding for the Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program.

We’re grateful to the legislators and staff who took the time to listen and engage.

Yesterday, Elevated Survivorship was proud to stand alongside Equal Hope in Springfield to advocate for the BEST Act.

This wasn’t just a day at the Capitol — it was a continuation of our commitment to systems change.

As we implement the Pinkprint in Washington Heights, we understand that real transformation happens at the intersection of community voice and public policy. That’s why we brought two of our Community Ambassadors with us — women who have been actively engaged in advocacy training and are now stepping fully into their power as policy influencers.

Watching them navigate legislative conversations, share lived experience, and connect the dots between breast health equity and structural investment reminded me why we do this work. Advocacy is not abstract. It is personal. It is local. And it is necessary.

The BEST Act represents more than legislation — it represents accountability, access, and the kind of intentional investment our communities deserve.

We are building something sustainable in Washington Heights. And that means ensuring our community is not just the subject of policy — but the author of it.
