What does it look like to dedicate more than 50 years to building a nursing specialty from the ground up?

Dr. Patricia A. Quigley, PhD, DN(h.c.), APRN, CRRN, FAAN, FAANP, FARN, past ARN President and 2025 Distinguished Service Award honoree, has lived that answer. We're thrilled to share that she recently received a Doctor of Nursing Honoris Causa from the University of South Florida, a well-deserved recognition of her extraordinary contributions to rehabilitation nursing.

From serving as ARN President to helping establish the CRRN® certification and leading groundbreaking fall prevention and patient safety research, Dr. Quigley's career is a masterclass in what it means to champion a specialty.

In her own words, she reflects on the milestones, the challenges, and the people who shaped her path, and shares timeless advice for the next generation of rehab nurses.
