Hot take: The advice women have been given about their bodies has been wrong for decades.
"Eat less. Move more."
It sounds simple. It became popular in the 1960s as diet culture exploded. And it was never based on how the female body actually works.
Here's what 25 years in exercise science has taught me:
When a woman under-fuels and over-trains, her body doesn't reward the effort. It reads it as stress. Cortisol rises. Muscle breaks down. The body holds on tighter.
You weren't failing the program.
The program was failing you.
Women's bodies respond to stress, hormonal shifts, and fuel differently than the generic fitness playbook accounts for. The approach has to match where your body actually is โ not where a one-size-fits-all plan assumes you should be.
This is why we build differently. ๐ช๐พ
