Turns out my definition of chic is mostly just eating well and having people over. I stand by it 😌

Caramel! Apple! Kugel! Skip the bowl and make your kugel directly in your baking dish. Thank me later.

PAREVE Caramel Apple kugel

Makes 1, 9x13-inch kugel, serves about 20

1,12oz package wide egg noodles, cooked al dente
5 large eggs, at room temperature
1 1/2 cup apple butter (I use Manischewitz brand)
1/2 cup vegan butter, melted
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon caramel extract
1 teapoon vanilla extract
3 granny smith apples, peeled and finely chopped

10 pitted medjool dates, chopped

Preheat the oven to 350F. Generously grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with vegan butter.

In the baking dish, combine the cooked noodles, eggs, apple butter, vegan butter, and sugar. Add the caramel and vanilla extract, stirring to combine.

Add the chopped apples and dates.

Bake for 45 minutes until deeply golden. Let cool in the dish.

I don’t make the rules. A sweet new year clearly requires something sweet to eat. Preferably nutty, sticky, and worth going back for another piece šŸÆ

I’m sharing plenty of Rosh Hashanah recipes over on my Substack Little Bites. Subscribe and let’s figure out what’s going on your table this year!

I run a womens Shabbat club with friends, and my favorite kind of Shabbat is the one where there’s too much food, someone brings someone new, nobody’s keeping track of who had seconds, and we somehow end up sitting at the table way longer than planned.

What does Shabbat look like at your table? šŸ«¶šŸ»

Need a potluck dish? Think you hate pasta salad? I see you! The best pasta salad uses the air fryer for extra crispy pasta that never gets soggy. Use Manischewitz bow ties for the best pasta salad of your life!

10oz bowtie pasta, cooked al dente according to package directions
1, 14oz can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1/2 english cucumber, diced
1 green onion, chopped
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
2 tablespoons chopped dill
3 tablespoons tahini
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon lemon zest

Toss the cooked pasta with olive oil and air fry at 350 for 10-12 min until crisp. Combine with all the beans, veg, herbs, and dressing.

I mean… the account is called what it is for a reason šŸ™‚ā€ā†•ļø

Anyway, what are we noshing on?

I will choose a slightly wonky braid over a beautiful, dense challah every single time 😌

The trick is learning what your dough should actually feel like. You want sticky-tacky, but not sticking-to-your-hands sticky. Too dry and you’re setting yourself up for a dense loaf!

And yes, this is one of those things that makes WAY more sense when you can actually see it 🤭

I’m showing you what to look for (and why kneading matters!) over at www.youtube.com/ šŸ“ŗ

My grandmother’s secret to really good mamaliga was apparently… all the butter she had šŸ˜‚

And honestly fair!

It’s still one of my favorite things to make at home. Simple, creamy, comforting, and very hard to mess up once you know what you’re doing.

I’m making mine step-by-step over on YouTube (with a little less butter than my grandma) Watch the full recipe on www.youtube.com/!

Let’s eat your feelings together! Cabbage, onion, lots of butter and Manischewitz egg noodles are all you need for the ultimate comfort food
