When a client expresses to me they desire to lose weight, I always try to find out why.
Sure, health is usually a factor.
But what is also common is that the majority of us have this arbitrary weight in our head that we “should” be just because we were that weight before.
Is returning to that weight actually necessary?
And again, why?
Is it possible to improve your health without being that weight? What are your daily obligations? Can we work towards improving your strength and energy so you can show up for those obligations, and put weight loss on the back burner?
It’s not everyone’s experience, but *most* people are stuck on a version of their body when they were their most “selfish.” Pre-marriage. Pre-kids. Pre-job. In that chapter, your main priority was yourself. You could workout, sleep in, prepare a simple meal for one.
Your priorities since then have likely quadrupled. Is it possible for it to be okay that weight loss is not your main priority in the season you’re in?
These are all topics that you can explore with me in Custom Holistic Programming. What could exercise and nutrition look like for you if you finally stopped believing you need to look like a previous version of yourself, and you started looking forward?
