Time to take all these muscles out for a little spin! 🤭

Turns out, having a modeling background does NOT mean Figure posing comes naturally.

I thought I’d connect with the poses pretty quickly. Yeah… no!

Figure posing is its own skill, and finding the right angles, transitions, posture and flow has challenged me more than I expected. But that's what practice is for.

Every day, I’m working on it. Tweaking. Adjusting. Repeating. And I’m incredibly grateful for my coach FitnessBoutique, Reda Lacy , and Donna M. Coleman Jones ,who have graciously given their time, eyes and expertise to help me fine-tune the details.

Now the foundation is there.
The rest is on me.

Time to stop thinking about every pose and start owning them. Add the personality. Add the confidence. And, of course… add a little razzle dazzle.

Because when I finally step on that stage, I don't just want to hit the poses, I wa t to be the moment!

Today’s update: I’m tired and EVERYTHING hurts. 😂

But the steps still have to get done.
As show day gets closer, I’m definitely feeling the work—the training, the cardio, the steps, the food… ALL OF IT.

This is the part of prep that tests you a little differently. When the excitement has to share space with fatigue, soreness, and the reality of what you signed up for.

But I did sign up for this. And I’m going to see it through.

So even when everything hurts… I walk.
One foot in front of the other. One day closer to that stage.

We’re almost there!💪

Saw it. Saved it. Tried it. 😂

I saw Priscilla Andrews doing this exercise and immediately thought, Ohhh… I need to try THAT. Because right now, if it looks like it might help build these lats, I’m paying attention.

And because apparently I don’t believe in struggling alone, I brought my best friend Bonita Braxton along for the experience.

Thirty-one years of friendship means sometimes you’re there for the big life moments… and sometimes you’re at the gym saying, “Girl, I saw this exercise online. Come try it with me.”

Less than four weeks out from my first bodybuilding competition, and I’m still challenging myself, still learning what my body can do, and still finding ways to make the work FUN.

The goal: LATS. The assignment: BUILD THE WINGS. 🪽 The bonus: having your best friend right there doing the crazy stuff with you.

Now… will this exercise make the permanent rotation? 👀✅️

LESS THAN 4 WEEKS OUT. 😳🔥

I said I wanted to do this. I signed up for it. I’ve been training for it.

But now?

S**T JUST GOT REAL. 😂

Less than four weeks until I step on stage for my first bodybuilding competition, and I’m officially in that part of prep where every workout, every meal, every step and every decision counts.
I’m excited. I’m nervous. I’m tired. 😂 And I’m still ALL IN.

At this point, it’s not about being perfect. It’s about finishing what I started and seeing just how far I can push myself.

We’re in the home stretch now. 🎯
October 18… I’m coming. # # #

Getting my daily steps in with this cutie? NO PROBLEM. 🐾

If I’ve got to get these steps in every day, there’s nobody I’d rather have by my side than Harlee.

He gets his walk, I get my cardio, and somehow the walk doesn’t feel quite as long when your walking partner has four legs and this much personality.

Competition prep requires the work—but that doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy how I get it done.

One step at a time. Me & Harlee.

WORKOUT VARIATION 🧘🏾‍♀️💪🏾

Strength training will always be a major part of what I do—but it shouldn't be the only way I move my body.
A well-rounded fitness routine should challenge you in different ways.

Today that looked like Pilates with Reda at FitnessBoutique —slowing things down, working on control, stability, mobility, core strength and movements that feel completely different from picking up heavy weights.

And don't let Pilates fool you. 😂 Different does not mean easy.

I believe there's value in giving your body different types of work. I lift. I do cardio. I run. I stretch. I work on mobility. And I'm incorporating Pilates because each one brings something different to my overall fitness.

The goal isn't just to be strong in the gym.
I want a body that is strong, mobile, balanced and capable.
So switch it up sometimes. Try the class. Change the movement. Challenge your body in a different way.
Variation isn't taking away from the work. It's part of becoming a more well-rounded athlete.
And Reda definitely had me WORKING. 😂

Not every workout ends the way you want it to.

Pull-ups were part of my coach’s plan at the end of a grueling upper-body workout, and by the time I got to them… my upper body was DONE. 😂

I tried. I struggled. I didn’t get the unassisted reps.
And I'm showing that part too.

Because this journey isn't going to be a highlight reel of perfect workouts and completed reps. Some days I’ll exceed my own expectations. Other days, I won’t meet them.

But neither one changes the assignment.

Keep training.
Keep getting stronger.
Come back and try again.

Not yet doesn’t mean not at all.

And trust me… I’ll be back for those pull-ups.

The workout isn’t over when the last rep is done.

I’ll admit it—stretching is one of those things that’s easy to rush through or skip altogether. Especially when you feel good.

But that’s the tricky part.

The consequences of constantly skipping your warm-up, mobility work and cool-down don’t always show up immediately. Sometimes it’s gradual—tightness, decreased range of motion, little compensations in the way you move—and then one day you reach, twist, bend or do something you’ve done a hundred times and suddenly… something hurts.
As I’ve become more intentional about my training, I’ve become just as intentional about taking care of the body doing the work.

Warm up before you ask your body to perform.
Cool down when the work is done.

Stretch. Work on your mobility. Pay attention to what feels tight.

And it doesn’t have to be complicated. These are simple movements, a few intentional minutes, and something we can all make time for.

Building the muscle is one part of fitness. Taking care of the body carrying it is another. 💪🏾

I’m doing both.
