YMCA Camp Independence holds a special place in the hearts of many families in the spina bifida community. We’re excited to share an opportunity to support YMCA Camp Independence on Saturday, October 3, at Ridgemoor Country Club in Harwood Heights, IL. The gala will raise funds for the camp and celebrate the experiences that have made a lasting difference in the lives of campers and their families, as well as the community that makes those moments possible.

As part of the event, camp staff will officially unveil the Dr. David G. McLone Lodge, honoring the visionary leader and camp founder whose expertise and compassion helped establish the Lurie Children’s Spina Bifida Center in the 1970s.

Guests will enjoy dinner, a silent auction, games and opportunities to reconnect with friends who share a love for camp and its mission.

We hope you all will join the Lurie SB Center in support of the 2026 Teal on the Hill (TOTH), which will be taking place March 1st-3rd. Registration is now open.

This is our opportunity to attend meetings with members of Congress to advocate for continued funding for the National Spina Bifida Program at the CDC, disability rights, and access to affordable health care, medical supplies, and technologies.
