One of the things I enjoy about hanging around with people for whom English is a second (or third) language, is how creatively they string together familiar words.
For example, my Argentine friend informed me on a recent sun splashed winter day, that she would be outside, “drinking the sun” ☀️
Typically, she corrects my Spanish, and I adjust her English.
But I simply smiled, and decided to adopt this phrase.
So this morning, before teaching Reiki, I settled quietly to drink in some sun. ☀️
In the warmth of the moment
something released from the back of my heart.
I think it was grief.
(Which is, of course, part of the cycle of change. And change is one of life’s constants. And it feels accelerated at this moment. Chapters close, chapters open, and in that inflection point, grief rumbles through, reminding the heart of what it has loved.
For me, what transmutes grief, without diminishing its truth, is how grateful I feel.
So I reached out to tell a friend what she means in my life - all those funny memories at my Michigan house which is now up for sale, and then I went back to drink in the sun, and imagine what comes next. 🌞)
