* This art therapy CE event is for art therapists and art therapy students. Ticket sales will prioritize art therapists and students; any remaining seats will go to waitlisted non-art therapists.
2-Hour Art Media CE Course Agenda: An instructor will teach you how to throw pottery on the wheel. Each person will be given 2 lbs of clay; 1 lb is enough to make a small piece of pottery, such as a mug, a bowl, or a vase. Instructions include centering, opening, pulling, and forming a piece of clay pottery into the shape and form of your choice. After throwing, each person will have time to decorate and glaze their pottery with underglaze. Participants will have the opportunity to meet other art therapists, tour the studio and gallery, eat snacks, and learn about IATA and board activity from Julie and Shan. Allotted time includes cleanup.
Materials included: tools, clays, underglaze, apron, water, bucket, etc.
Firing Services included: first (bisque) and second (glaze) firing, provided by the studio. We will be working with low-firing clay.
CE credits:
This ART MEDIA class will qualify for 2 art therapy CEs issued by IATA according to the 2026 ATCB Board Certification rule.
Art Media Classes is counted as 1 CE credit per 1 hour; Board-Certified Art Therapists are allowed 10 CE credits of Art Media Classes per re-certification cycle to count towards the required 50 Art Therapy Specific CE credits.
