The ABA ( ) signed on to an AMA-led letter urging the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to withdraw a proposed policy in the Proposed CY 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) that would reduce Medicare payment by 50% when a separately identifiable office/outpatient E/M service is reported with modifier -25 on the same day as certain procedures.

The proposal could significantly impact physicians and independent practices by reducing payment for services that require additional clinical work and resources. By joining this effort, ABA advocates for burn care professionals and works to ensure Medicare payment policies accurately reflect the resources required to provide high-quality patient care.

✅ The open comment period for the CY 2027 PFS proposed rule is through September 14th. As the ABA develops our own comment letter, we encourage you to submit a comment to CMS here: https://bit.ly/4zKyFqN
