Jacob Poreda Updates - Like My Page I'm Jacob. Jacob was 5 months old when he was diagnosed with a Congenital Spinal Deformity and a rare Unbalanced Chromosome 3 and 7 Translocation.

We were referred to Children's Memorial and now know as Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and after years of consultations, we were then referred to Dr.Lawrence Lenke of Children's Hospital St. Louis, MO., because of the severity of his Kyphoscoliosis. Dr. Lenke moved to New York City as Surgeon-in-Chief of The Spine Hospital at New York-Presbyterian/Allen Hospital while also operating at Morgan Stanley Childrens Hospital of New York.

Rose: Yesterday was such a busy day. We were on the go from when we left the hotel and finally came back to the hotel that evening. First we visited Aviation Hall of Fame of New Jersey. Jacob loved it. Then we headed over to Allan hospital in New York to see Dr Lenke. Dr Lenke said he looks great! X-ray are good and Jacob's posture is still looking great. Next follow up is in a year and 1/2, if everything comes up to come in sooner. He is released to do PE and start his PT at school (modified). Jacob is really happy he can join his friends in PE.
The weather has been cloudy and rainy since we been here and Jacob wanted to go to central park, but it was too windy and wet out. So we went to America Dream mall, where it's dry and warm. He loved the Nickelodeon Universe America Dream. The last couple of times we were here, he couldn't go on the rides, so this time he was and he had a blasted. He got to meet teenage mutant ninja turtles, SpongeBob and Patrick. Then we ate at Yard house, we would recommend, it has a variety of beers, food is great too. Jacob of course had Mac n Cheese. Jacob 1st ride on the mall animals, it was rough start in the beginning, almost hitting someone, but once he got the hang of it, he was on a roll . Left the mall and headed back to the hotel, swam in the pool and afterwards visited Joey the bartender to say hi and bye until next time, another buddy of Jacob's. We are heading home today. Rose: We are heading to New York for Jacob's 6 month post-op surgery. I feel bad for our driver to the airport, Jacob talked the whole ride ( an hour and 10mins) and he wants to fly the plane, not sure how the other passengers would feel about that😆. Tomorrow we will see Dr Lenke.

Rose: Jacob's JP drain was removed today. He was nervous and scared, but was relieved when it was over. He is using his walker around the house and is still doing good on the stairs. Dr Lenke gave the ok for Jacob to return to school sometime next week. Jacob can't wait to go back to see his friends and teachers. ❤️
After three months he will have x-rays taken and have a virtual follow-up with Dr Lenke. The six month follow-up (October)) will be back in New York. He loves seeing all your comments! Thank you for your prayers for Jacob! ❤️🙏
