This day can be complicated for many.

Future moms-to-be struggling with infertility.
Expecting moms.
Moms who have experienced loss.
Moms mothering without their mothers.
Moms advocating for their child’s future.
Moms who don’t have access to their children.
Daughters who have to set boundaries with their own moms.
Single moms.
Immigrant moms.

The system of modern motherhood was never designed to support us. A single commercialized day doesn’t make up for generations of mothering under patriarchy.

You’re allowed to feel however you want about it (even all at once!).

Now go treat yourself and be your own biggest admirer. You deserve it.

Gardens are for angry (but hopeful) women.

Gardening regulates the nervous system!!

Moving rocks, trees, and 40 lb bags of soil isn’t for the weak. This type of “heavy work” is great for a nervous system to express the fight response when feeling pent up anger. A fight responses need to activate big muscle groups with heavy resistance before it can expel the energy. Otherwise it will get stuck in your body and cause issues down the line like inflammation, high cortisol, and autoimmune conditions.

Other benefits of gardening?

🌱A microbe in the soil triggers the release of serotonin, the happiness hormone.

🌱Bird song regulates the nervous system.

🌱Sunlight also releases serotonin and provides vitamin D, which helps with long-term neurological health.

Don’t just regulate your anger away. That’s just emotional gaslighting. Instead, find a healthy way to MOVE with that angry impulse. Gardening is a great option but not the only one!

The Mother’s Healing Circle meets monthly over zoom.

It’s a support group for moms on their own unique healing journeys. We use mindfulness, somatics, and nervous system awareness to deepen our own personal growth in the context of modern motherhood. This space is to reflect, share, and support one another in a nonjudgemental, trauma-informed way.

This is an inclusive space built intentionally for women, females, and non-binary folks who are in a mothering or caretaking role for their own children, children in the community, or their own inner child.
