Our clinical supervisor, Mia, has been collaborating for past several months with the Music & Dementia Research Network to develop a music therapy protocol in order to find the brain mechanisms activated in music therapy with mobile brain technology. This weekend the nationwide interdisciplinary workgroup and attendees convened in Chicago at Northwestern. Mia got the opportunity to facilitate the protocol the team created while the participants wore mobile EEG caps for preliminary data. They workshopped how to improve it and what next steps are in the process in order to make it replicable for many sites across the country.

Greater Chicago Music Therapy Inc. is looking for a licensed professional and board-certified music therapist to join our amazing team! This is a full-time salaried position that offers flexibility. Part-time option also available if interested. We are a mobile practice and travel to our clients throughout Chicago and several surrounding suburbs. We are looking for an independent music therapist who can manage their own caseload of individual and group sessions with adults with dementia, neurodiversity, developmental/intellectual disabilities, various other neurological disorders, and in hospice care. We work from a strength-based and person-centered approach, and have wonderful community partners. It is important to us to be doing the work we love while being supported. Our team collaborates closely sharing knowledge, expertise, guidance, and resources. We are thrilled to be able to have someone awesome join us!​

START DATE: FALL 2026

BENEFITS:
- Starting salary range begins at $55k
- Starting with 4 weeks PTO and eligible for increase in the future

REQUIREMENTS:
- Applicant must be Illinois LPMT and MT-BC OR eligible for both the Illinois license and board certification
- Team members must have a valid driver’s license, car insurance, and reliable and safe transportation
- Must be COVID-19 vaccinated & boosted
- Comfortable assisting clients who use wheelchairs short distances if necessary (e.g. escorting a client from the dining room at a care community to a quiet space for session)
- Ideal applicant brings energy, creativity, dependability, good communication skills, and patience to their work​
