Using music as a tool to support health and wellness for individuals and groups After nearly 12 years of private practice in the Chicago area, we “upgraded"!

This is a long time coming! The week Becky finished her clinical internship and completed graduate school, she received her first referral for a private client. Wanting to gain as much experience as possible, she spent 12 years practicing music therapy privately via traveling to people’s homes or to various care communities and programs to provide individual and group music therapy services while simultaneously holding positions on staff at a large skilled nursing/short term rehabilitation facility, then creating and facilitating a program for a local hospice. Now, Becky is devoting her full time to Greater Chicago Music Therapy Inc., which is the new name of her music therapy practice.

New team music therapist alert‼️ We are SO happy to welcome (back) Madelynn Miller, LPMT, MT-BC to Greater Chicago Music Therapy!

A graduate of Belmont University, Madelynn joined the team in the fall of 2025 as an intern and has continued as a team music therapist with GCMT. Madelynn grew up singing and playing piano in the southwest suburbs of Chicago. Her primary instrument is classical percussion which she studied throughout college. In music therapy, Madelynn has worked with older adults, adolescents with mental health diagnoses, and children with developmental and intellectual disabilities. She also worked as a research assistant for the Foundation for Hearing and Speech Resources (FHSR). Madelynn’s approach to clinical practice focuses on whole-person care, ensuring that all aspects of life are considered for each individual. Madelynn is excited and honored to be a part of individuals’ lives in a musical way.

Please help us officially welcome Madelynn and congratulate the new LPMT! ✨

We want to congratulate our colleague Kaitlin Seibert, MD for being awarded a pilot grant from the Music & Dementia Research Network. Along with our interdisciplinary team, we collaborated with Dr. Seibert to pilot a music therapy protocol to support people living with frontotemporal dementia. We are excited to support moving this work forward!
