June Is Men's Health Awareness Month
Here’s an important message about men’s mental health from Dr. Lyz Amarillo, AIHSC’s Director of Behavioral Health.
----------
June is Men’s Health Awareness Month, and this is an important reminder to all men that your health matters, both physically and mentally. Too often, men carry stress, anxiety, sadness, substance use, suicidal thoughts, pain, or health concerns in silence while continuing to push through daily responsibilities. Research shows that men are less likely to seek medical care, follow up on symptoms, or openly talk about what they are experiencing emotionally or mentally. However, ignoring symptoms does not make them go away, and taking care of yourself is one of the most important things you can do for yourself, your family, and your community.
At AIHSC, we want men to know that you are not alone and support is available. We encourage all men to schedule a yearly medical health check-up and seek medical care whenever concerns arise. Your mental health is just as important as your physical health, and Behavioral Health services are available for appointments whenever support is needed. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stressed, emotionally exhausted, or simply need someone to talk to, there are people here who care and are ready to help from both a medical and behavioral health perspective.
Taking the first step toward care is a sign of strength. Your health matters. Your voice matters. And your well-being matters.
