It's a season of MAJOR change.
Julie Bear Don't Walk Acupuncture + Integrative Health is CLOSING effective May 26, 2024.
I'm writing to share with you a story of transformation, which is ultimately what we do in Chinese Medicine.
We help people heal, and in that process, transformation is often part of the process. We transform patterns that have been established.
And, not just in our bodies. In our lives. In our relationships. In our purpose, in our own personal development.
I am deeply committed to this process in my own life.
And that commitment has led me to the clarity to close Julie Bear Don't Walk Acupuncture, effective May 26, 2024.
This is more of a transformation than an ending. And I'll explain a bit later in this email about that transformation (keep reading!).
First and foremost, there will still be excellent acupuncture and Chinese Medicine available to you!
Sarah Sievers, my Associate that has been with the clinic since 2021, is opening her own clinic just a mile away from my office. Michelle Truckey will be joining her, so that there is no disruption in patient care. Your patient records, your appointments--everything will be transferred over to Sarah's new clinic prior to my clinic closing. Her clinic is called Tripping Acupuncture, and her website is live. If you are a patient of Sarah's, or Michelle's, know that there will be NO disruption in your care! It will simply continue at Sarah's clinic beginning Monday, May 27.
Seth Ebel is in the process of merging his passion for helping people recover from addiction with acupuncture, and has been given opportunities to further pursue that path. He is also in the process of determining how he may continue to provide acupuncture to his current patients. If you are a current patient of Seth's, you will receive an email tomorrow morning from him (from this email address) with additional information.
We are still seeing patients, and some room in our schedules to see you in the clinic through May 25. You can book online at our website, juliebeardontwalk.com
Now, about that TRANSFORMATION--also known as, Why Am I Doing This? Especially when I have a THRIVING clinic, delivering the BEST ACUPUNCTURE care in Lawrence?
It's a qi story.
In 2021, I started mentoring other Acupuncturists and healthcare providers, as a way to fulfill my commitment of helping more people have more access to feeling better, naturally. I chose to do this because I love helping, and teaching. I never set out to have another purpose to fulfill--I honestly thought I would be putting in needles in people forever. And then the medicine kept talking to me, requesting me to keep helping practitioners.
As many of you already know, I stopped seeing patients directly last year, to focus on leading my team at the clinic, and to work with my coaching clients to help them have deeply nourishing, sustainable holistic health practices. (You may not realize this, but the burnout rate in healthcare--even holistic healthcare--is pretty high!). So, I've been helping my team at the clinic flourish and thrive, and I've been helping other acupuncturists flourish and thrive, sustainably.
And then I had to listen, and ask--am I walking my talk? Am I deeply committed to flourishing and thriving in a sustainable way, myself?
Last October, I realized that with the flourishing of both of my practices, I needed to make some adjustments in order to stay in alignment with everything that I teach. In short, I needed to listen to the qi and ensure that my own life and practices were sustainable.
I stayed curious. I listened to my body. I'm a fundamentally impatient person, so it wasn't an easy task to just keep staying present and getting curious!! But I kept at it. And it was very inconvenient, the information I was getting. But I honored even the inconvenient voices, because they are also valid.
As a human being who is deeply committed to transformation, I needed more space to be creative and transformational, and my decision was ultimately made to honor that. However inconvenient from the status quo it was, that's what the qi and this medicine has clearly requested of me.
Which is, to focus on helping other practitioners practice holistic health, sustainably. To co-create healthy healthcare practices. Because EVERYONE benefits from healthcare systems that are vital, and life-giving.
With this clarity, the qi has begun to flow beautifully.
The clinic building is evolving into its new state, and will become Lawrence Birth & Wellness, a Midwifery and Birthing Center, with their opening date TBD later this year. Mother daughter team Charlotte Knoche and Lilly Mason have purchased the property with the goal of creating a safe inclusive place for all those who seek health keeping ways. They are hoping to partner with a birth center, home birth midwives, and other health practitioners. This evolution happened in a way that feels like it was absolutely meant to be, almost magically! They are honored to be carrying on the lovely tradition of healing work that we established in this space and look forward to bringing more birth options to the Lawrence community.
My team is flourishing into their next incarnations. Sarah and Michelle in Sarah's new clinic. Seth is committed to helping others in their addiction recovery, and exploring his potential in helping others with acupuncture. Judi, our Front Desk Leader, is planning a move to Colorado later this year. Stephanie, our Clinic Manager, is getting curious about her next chapter with some space to be creative and deeply authentic about it. Nicole, our Office Assistant, is committed to starting her career in Data Analytics, for which she just finished a degree program. Kaitlin, our Office Assistant, is focused on finishing her degree at KU.
We have all LOVED helping you feel better, in all the incarnations that Julie Bear Don't Walk Acupuncture has taken over the past nine years here in Lawrence, Kansas.
We have SO appreciated you voting us BEST OF LAWRENCE for the past six years in a row! (Truly, honored.)
We have cherished every moment in every treatment with you.
You have touched our hearts with your own commitment to healing and transformation, with each acupuncture treatment.
And, just like you, we are growing and transforming into our next version, taking all of this experience with us, to help make the world feel better, on a new scale.
I hope that this change serves as inspiration for you to listen, to honor what's being requested of you in your own life. However inconvenient. However surprising. However creative.
Qi is dynamic, and ever evolving. And so are you.
In care, in love, in healing,
Julie
