Tick season is upon us!
Here are a few resources for your reading pleasure.

A few points:
- If bitten PLEASE KEEP THE TICK- it helps with identification and potential infectious agent testing.
- Removal: Please do not twist or tear the tick out. Using a tick key or tweezers get as close to your skin as possible at the head of the tick and apply steady pressure until the tick is removed. Bonus points if you can see a small piece of your skin hanging from the mouth.
- If the body and head are removed but part of the mouth remains DO NOT dig it out at all costs- this most often leads to greater risk of local infection.
- If you have concern over an infection of any kind please seek the care of your trusted clinician.
- The best defense is offense: minimum 2 a day body checks are key this time a year especially if venturing into the woods. There are many repellants, none of which work 100%. Body checks are a must.
