Let me tell you something that changes everything about the hormone conversation.

You cannot balance your hormones without first addressing your minerals.
I know.
Nobody told you that either. 😑

Here is why it matters:

Hormones are manufactured, transported, and regulated by processes that are entirely dependent on minerals. Without the right mineral foundation your hormones cannot function properly — no matter how many hormone-supporting supplements you take or how clean your diet is.

Let me show you exactly what I mean:

Magnesium is required to convert inactive thyroid hormone T4 into active T3 — the form your cells actually use. Low magnesium means sluggish thyroid function even when your TSH looks perfectly normal on paper.

Zinc is essential for producing progesterone and regulating estrogen metabolism. Low zinc contributes directly to estrogen dominance — that pattern behind PMS, heavy periods, mood swings, and weight gain around the middle.

Copper regulates estrogen levels and dopamine production. When copper is elevated — which is extremely common in women especially after pregnancy or on hormonal birth control — it drives estrogen dominance, anxiety, brain fog, and fatigue.

Selenium is critical for thyroid hormone conversion and protects the thyroid gland from oxidative damage. Most standard thyroid panels never check it. I have been genuinely looking forward to this season.

I shared something yesterday that I honestly was not sure I was going to share.

The metallic quality I noticed in my hair. The minerals I stopped taking. The way my body quietly started signaling again the moment I did.

You were taught that insurance is healthcare. It is not.

From the time you got your first job, the benefits package was the prize. Health insurance meant you were taken care of. It meant security. It meant you were responsible.

Nobody told you what it actually costs. Or what it actually delivers.

Here is the math most people never run.

The average American woman pays somewhere between $400 and $600 per month in premiums for an individual plan. That is $4,800 to $7,200 per year before she has used a single service. I want to tell you something I noticed about myself recently. 🙃

A few months ago I started noticing a metallic quality when I dried my hair. Subtle.

Easy to dismiss. I assumed it was my shampoo, my water, the blow dryer, something external.

Can we just acknowledge that this week's heat has been no joke? Already.

I have been thinking a lot this week about how much we normalize feeling depleted in the summer.

We chalk it up to the heat. To being busy. To the kids being home. To the schedule changing. To summer just being a lot.

And sometimes it is all of those things.

But sometimes — and I say this as both a physician and a woman who has lived this — the heat is just exposing what was already there.

I want to sit in this for a second.
