Today, we lost a warrior and a hero to our cause. She loved her friends, who were as diverse as the wildlife in her beloved national parks, Coca-Cola, and humor of all sorts. Her diatribes were legendary, from Avatar (the Last Airbender, not the blue people) to science, human rights, and politics. She was not afraid to share an opinion, nor to still like you if you disagreed. She would give anything help those she cared about and would defend them to the ends of the earth. More than anything, she loved her family, especially her boys. I wish the tears shed today were due to some witty quip or rant, but even as they fall, I can hear her laugh, like she knows something we don't, not that she didn't all along. You will be missed, loved, and cherished. Godspeed Emily.
