Human connection is one of the reasons I fell in love with this medicine in the first place.

Because people heal differently when they feel safe. When they feel listened to.
When they feel less alone inside what they’re carrying.

There’s actually research showing that social connection affects:

stress hormones,
inflammation,
immune function,
pain perception, recovery,
and longevity.

Which honestly makes perfect sense to me.
Human beings are not designed to heal in isolation.

One of the things Chinese Medicine has always understood is that health is relational.

The Earth element especially is connected to nourishment:
food,
care,
support,
belonging,
feeling held by life instead of constantly bracing against it.

And I think a lot of people are deeply undernourished relationally right now.
Too much stress.
Too much screen time.
Too little real exhaling with another human being.

It’s a different kind of post-Covid syndrome. The loneliness.

Sometimes people cry in acupuncture treatment simply because someone is finally slowing down long enough to really listen.

That matters.
Healing is never ONLY about needles.

It’s about helping people feel more connected:
to themselves,
to their bodies,
to other people,
to life.

That’s still the magic of this medicine for me after all these years.

“Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.”

One of the least glamorous truths about healing is that it usually happens through very ordinary things done consistently.

Going to bed earlier.
Eating breakfast.
Coming in for treatment.
Taking the walk.
Drinking the water.
Resting before your body completely forces you to.

Listening to the little signals before they become very loud ones.

People often want healing to feel dramatic.
But most lasting change happens more quietly than that.

Small shifts become patterns. Patterns become physiology. Physiology becomes quality of life.

That’s one of the things I love most about Chinese Medicine. This medicine respects slow, steady transformation.

Not punishment.
Not perfection.
Just tending to the body consistently enough that it starts functioning better over time.

That’s the work.
That kind of healing is the kind that lasts.

And I know we live in a dopamine culture of quick fixes–but the steady drip of dopamine in a well supported system? That’s the steadiness that creates lifelong vitality.

Let's get started with the antidote to gimmicky health fads. I’m here for real healing.

“My digestion is a mess.”
“I have no idea what’s going on.”
“Maybe it’s SIBO? Maybe hormones? Maybe stress? Maybe gluten? Maybe my body just hates me now?”

I hear some version of this almost every single day.

The bloating. The constipation.
Reactivity to random foods.
Exhausted after eating.
Googling themselves into psychological collapse. WORRIED AF.
Taking seventeen supplements and carrying digestive enzymes around like emotional support capsules.

In Chinese Medicine, digestion is foundational.

We have literally been treating these patterns for over 4000 years.
We treat the digestive system as a whole, not just “probiotics” or “dysbiosis”.
The whole process is about being able to receive nourishment, transform food into energy, and discern what is helpful and what is not. This is digestion on the physical and emotional level.

The goal is for you to actually digest food, stress, emotions, and life without completely falling apart.

Late summer is the season of the digestive system, and it’s extra powerful to work on it during it’s season.

It’s not “just cramps.”

No babe.
Your body is throwing a flare gun into the sky.

You’re sweating through your clothes, doubled over in Target, rage crying because someone asked you one additional question, and trying to calculate whether you have enough Advil left to survive the day.

This is how fibroids, endometriosis, massive inflammation, pelvic tension, hormonal chaos, announce themselves every month.

We take period pain VERY seriously in Chinese Medicine.

Because your cycle tells us a lot.
The clotting. The timing.
The headaches. The bloating. The exhaustion. The diarrhea. The rage.
The deep ache in your low back. All of it matters.

And when we start treating the ROOT pattern instead of just surviving the symptoms, people often realize:
“Oh. My body actually doesn’t have to feel like it’s trying to fistfight me every month.”

THAT is the goal.

Neck pain is one of the body’s favorite ways of saying: “Girl. Enough.”

Because your neck knows when you’re stressed before YOU know you’re stressed.
Suddenly you can’t turn your head properly.
You’re stretching constantly.
Your shoulders are basically earrings.
You sleep weird and wake up feeling like someone replaced your muscles with concrete overnight.

And then there’s the special kind of neck pain where you swear it’s from “sleeping funny” when actually you’ve been clenching your jaw through life for six straight months.

Modern humans are doing SO much with their bodies right now:
scrolling,
driving,
working,
caretaking,
sitting,
clenching,
pushing through exhaustion,
holding tension like it’s a competitive sport.

Eventually your muscles start protesting.

One of the things I love about treating neck pain with Chinese Medicine is that people often walk out realizing how much tension they had normalized.

Like:
“Oh wow. I thought feeling tight all the time was just adulthood.”
Nope.

The goal is not temporary relief for twelve minutes after a massage.
The goal is your body functioning so well that you stop thinking about your neck altogether.

This is your sign if your neck has been personally victimizing you lately to come in for a treatment.

Do I take my own advice perfectly? Absolutely not.

I am a human healer, not a woodland fairy with flawless nervous system regulation and congee for breakfast every. Single. Day. (I like pancakes! I like greek yogurt!)

This summer I have:
gone on walks without my phone,
danced in my kitchen,
taken naps,
watched stupid videos of people tripping, falling and running into things that made me laugh embarrassingly hard,
drank iced matcha even though it’s “bad for my spleen”
said no to things,
sat outside more,
worked on sleeping better,
and tried VERY hard not to treat rest like something I have to “earn.”

That last one is ongoing.

One of the things I’ve learned practicing this medicine is that healing is usually not about becoming perfect.

It’s about becoming more honest.
More aware of what helps you feel good.
More aware of what depletes you.
More willing to support yourself before your body starts screaming for attention.
That’s the kind of health I care about now.
Not performative wellness.
Not optimization culture.
Just...feeling more alive in your actual life.
And yes, sometimes that absolutely includes allowing my inner little kid to go fully wild. That’s medicine too.

Balance.

Cravings are information.

The wine at 5pm.
The ice cream at 8.
The “I need a little treat or I may actually lose my mind” feeling.
The cheese.
The sugar.
The scrolling.
The THC gummies to “relax.”
The handfuls of snacks eaten standing over the sink while hiding from your family for 90 seconds.

I am not interested in shaming anybody here.
Your nervous system is trying to regulate itself the best way it knows how.
But sometimes people reach a point where they realize: “Wow. I actually don’t feel very in charge of this anymore.”

That moment matters.

Because cravings are often the body trying to compensate for:
stress,
overstimulation,
blood sugar swings,
poor sleep,
depletion,
lack of pleasure,
emotional overload,
or a nervous system that never fully comes downshifted.

Chinese Medicine is really good at helping people feel more supported in their BODY so every difficult feeling doesn’t immediately become: “I need the thing.”

More steadiness.
More regulation.
More agency.
Less full-body screaming for relief all the time.
That’s the work.

Feeling more choice around your habits is incredibly freeing.

Call us to schedule an appointment–we are here for you when you’re ready to release the grip of your cravings.

Heavy periods will humble you.

One minute you’re living your life.

The next minute you’re planning your entire day around tampon logistics, praying you don’t bleed through your jeans at Target, and wondering why you don’t have your own resting period tent and someone to bring you steak and chocolate.

A lot of women have been told this is “just part of being a woman.”

Meanwhile they are:
exhausted,
foggy,
crampy,
running low on iron,
emotionally flattened for half the month,
and quietly organizing their life around surviving their cycle.

Also? Nobody talks about the low grade depression and anxiety caused by significant blood loss. Because you are literally DRAINED of life force. Vitality. Blood.

Fibroids can do this. Hormonal shifts can do this. Perimenopause can do this. Inflammation can do this.

Chinese Medicine is really good at helping us understand WHY your cycle is behaving the way it is instead of just telling you to tolerate it better.

Less flooding.
Less depletion.
Less “I need three business days to recover from my period.”
More energy.
More steadiness.
More feeling like your body belongs to YOU again.
