Today for Wednesday we are highlighting Team AquinAqua. A group of both year round and summer residents who all come together to swim in Menemsha pond throughout the summer.
"For more than 25 summers, our AquinAqua group has gathered at 7:30 a.m. to swim in Menemsha Pond. This July, we’ll be swimming not just for the joy of the water—but to raise money to fight cancer.
AquinAqua is a summertime open-water swimming group founded by Spa Tharpe, Ollie Crowell, and Lang Gerhard. What began as a small group of friends swimming together in Menemsha Pond has grown into a beloved summer tradition.
This July 18th, our group is excited to participate in the Swim Across America charity swim off Menemsha Beach, raising money to support cancer research and care.
Since 1987, Swim Across America has hosted open-water charity swims with one powerful goal: to fund innovative cancer research and breakthrough treatments. Thanks to swimmers and supporters across the country, the organization has raised more than $100 million to support pioneering work in oncology and cancer care programs.
Cancer has touched so many families and communities. Our team joined Swim Across America because we believe in their mission and want to help bring hope—and better treatments—to those facing this disease. Many of our swimmers will also be swimming in honor or memory of friends and loved ones affected by cancer.
Every donation truly makes a difference.
If you’re able, we would be grateful for your support. Your donation will help us reach our fundraising goal and contribute to life-saving cancer research."
