Do you feel like you can't break free?
Are the same emotional hurts repeating again and again?

Our body has the habit of forming habits, especially those based on experience and memory. This is somatic awareness: the awareness of feelings, habits, memories, emotions, and traumas trapped in and trapping our body's movement patterns [https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/what-is-somatic-therapy-202307072951].

Our mind can communicate with our body, through conscious awareness and intention, to process these somatics and instruct our body to perform different movements in an effort to release the trapped sensations.
Our body moving through new patterns creates a new experience and feeling, releasing trapped sensations.

Do you breathe through your nose or your mouth?
How deep do you breathe when you are calm?
How about when you are stressed? In day-to-day life?

Take a deep breath; fill your lungs completely with breath.

Inhale through your nose all the way to the bottom of your pelvic bowl; from the top of your nose to the bottom of your being.
Exhale through your nose all the air out of your body, completely emptying your lungs; let your belly button squeeze all the way to your spine.

Repeat. Breathe consciously. Breathe intentionally.

Ok, here we go. The science of breathing and why it impacts health:
1) Inhaling brings Oxygen into our lungs.
2) Our body uses Oxygen to create energy.
3) Energy production releases Carbon Dioxide.
4) Carbon Dioxide changes the balance within our bodies, activating our nervous system, brain, hormones, etc.
5) Blood flows everywhere in our body, delivering nutrients while transporting Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide to the lungs.
6) Exhaling expels Carbon Dioxide out of our body, again changing our balance and activating our nervous system, brain, hormones, etc.

There is a pressure differential (think hydraulics, air pumps, etc.) in our blood compared to (a) our body and (b) our lungs.
This pressure differential allows:
A) Oxygen from our lungs to enter our blood

C) Carbon Dioxide to enter our bloodstream from our body
D) Carbon Dioxide to exit our bloodstream into our lungs

Early in the morning, when Sun is just rising on the horizon, squint your eyes and metabolize its light. No sunglasses, no windows, no lenses, no filters, no contacts. Pure sunlight.

Sun gets pretty bright really fast, so be extra careful!

Tapas, one of the niyamas. Tapas deals with internal drive, internal motive, internal commitment to follow through. Not on superficial goals, but on soul fulfillment. A much more rigorous task. Yes, soul fulfillment may start with goals: taking one more step, being stronger, eating one less gram of sugar this week compared to last, looking up for one second instead of just a quick shake of the head, but to be tapas it must be aligned with soul fulfillment. Anything else is ego delusion.
