IMPORTANT UPDATE from Superintendent Norm Enfield on the CVUSD Board of Education's vote to reopen elementary schools, grades TK-6, February 24, 2021:
Dear CVUSD Parents and Guardians:
The Board of Education at a Special Board meeting today voted to:
a) Approve the in-person school reopening plan for grades TK-2 effective March 4, 2021, and grades 3-6 effective March 8, 2021;
b) Approve the in-person school reopening plan for Cal Aero Preserve Academy Track A grades K-2 effective March 9, 2021, and grades 3-6 effective March 11, 2021; Track B grade K-2 effective March 11, 2021, and grades 3-6 effective March 15, 2021; Track C grades K-2 effective March 18, 2021, and grades 3-6 effective March 22, 2021; Track D grades K-2 effective April 8, 2021, and grades 3-6 effective April 12, 2021; and
c) Authorize the Superintendent to begin in-person instruction for grades 7-12 when the County meets state guidelines.
Families in all standard track elementary schools who opted for the Distance Learning model for the 2020-2021 school year will remain in the Distance Learning model for the remainder of the school year. There will be no changes to schedules for students on the Distance Learning model.
Families in all standard track elementary schools who opted for the Blended Learning model for the 2020-2021 school year will transition to an in-person Blended Learning model following the schedule below. The Blended Learning model will assign students into two cohorts—Cohort A and Cohort B—and each cohort will attend school on campus on alternating days. Both Cohort A and Cohort B will participate in Distance Learning one day each week, on the school’s designated minimum day. The in-person Blended Learning model school schedule for all standard track elementary schools Grades TK-2 for the week of March 1, 2021 is as follows:
Monday, March 1: Distance Learning Minimum Day
Tuesday, March 2: Distance Learning Minimum Day
Wednesday, March 3: Distance Learning Minimum Day

The in-person Blended Learning model school schedule for all standard track elementary schools Grades 3-6 for the week of March 1, 2021 is as follows:

Friday, March 5: Distance Learning Minimum Day
Beginning the week of Monday, March 8, 2021, all Blended Learning students in Grades TK-6 will participate in an in-person Blended Learning model schedule. Please expect additional information from your school principal for your child’s school schedule beginning March 8, 2021 until the end of the school year.
Cal Aero families will receive separate communications specific to the school’s year-round track schedule and return to in-person learning schedule. Cal Aero Preserve Academy Junior High School will not be affected by today’s Board decision, as secondary schools are not yet eligible to re-open for in-person learning per State of California guidelines.
It has been a long journey, but rest assured, the District and schools are looking forward to students returning to campus. The District and schools are prepared with appropriate COVID safety measures and Personal Protective Equipment as recommended by the California Department of Health Services and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As we transition to in-person Blended Learning, I ask that all parents and guardians assist in keeping our school communities safe by screening your children for illness every day prior to coming to school and ensuring that your children have face coverings as prescribed by the California Department of Health. Details on at-home screening and requirements/exemptions for face covering are provided in two letters that are attached to this communication.
