"𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙜𝙖?"

"𝙈𝙖𝙮𝙗𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙚𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩."

"𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙣𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨."

“𝙎𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙣.”

If you've lived with widespread, unexplained pain, chances are you've heard at least one of these.

And after hearing them enough times, you might start wondering…

“𝙈𝙖𝙮𝙗𝙚 𝙞𝙩'𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙚.”

But here's what I want you to know:

Your pain is real.

And the fact that there isn't a simple blood test that says “𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙨 𝙛𝙞𝙗𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙮𝙖𝙡𝙜𝙞𝙖” doesn't make the pain any less real.

Fibromyalgia is much more complicated than simply having "a low pain tolerance."

Your nervous system can actually become more sensitive to pain signals—essentially turning up the volume on sensations that wouldn't normally hurt as much.

But that brings us to the question I think is even more important:

𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙢𝙚 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙪𝙥 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚?

For some people, the story may involve a viral illness.

For others, chronic stress, disrupted sleep, gut health, metabolic dysfunction, or even a physical trauma may be part of the picture.

And emerging research is giving us even more reasons to look deeper into what's happening beneath the symptoms.

That doesn't mean there's one single cause of fibromyalgia.

It means “𝙬𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙚𝙭𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙬𝙝𝙮 𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙧𝙚 𝙝𝙪𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜” 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙨 “𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚'𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙚𝙛𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙖𝙩𝙚.”

You deserve more than being told to simply live with it.

That's exactly what I dive into in this week's newsletter—what may be happening inside the nervous system, why sleep and inflammation matter, and some of the overlooked pieces worth exploring when you're living with chronic widespread pain.

If you live with fibromyalgia, you’ve probably heard “have you tried yoga?” or “some people just have a lower pain tolerance.” Here’s what’s often left out of that conversation: there’s no blood test or scan for fibromyalgia. Diagnosis relies on two self-report questionnaires — not because the pain isn’t real, but because the science is still catching up to why it happens.

Hello, September! 🍂✨

A new month, a fresh beginning, and another opportunity to slow down, listen to your body, and give yourself the care you deserve.

May this month bring you clarity, gentle progress, and answers to the questions you’ve been carrying. 🌿

Here’s to a September filled with intention, healing, and hope. 🤎🤍

✨ Three things I’m grateful for this August…

1. Learning to listen more closely to the body. Symptoms are not something to simply push through—they’re information.
2. The courage to keep asking questions. Sometimes the first answer isn’t the whole story, and that’s okay. We’re allowed to keep looking for answers that actually make sense.
3. The small steps that add up. A test requested. A symptom named. A better question asked. A little more awareness of what our bodies are telling us. 🌿

August has been a reminder that understanding your health is a journey, not a single appointment or lab result.

Now it’s your turn… 🤎

What are three things you’re grateful for this August?

𝙎𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙧𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧: Small steps still count. One symptom named, one question asked, one test requested—each one brings you a little closer to understanding what your body has been trying to tell you.

“𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙡.”

If you've been hearing those four words for years, you know how frustrating they can be.

You're exhausted.

Your joints hurt.

Your skin is changing.

Your digestion isn't right.

You know something is happening in your body…

But every appointment ends the same way:

“𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙡.”

And eventually, you start wondering if maybe you're imagining it.

You're not.

Here's the part we don't talk about enough:

𝘼 𝙣𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙡 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨𝙣'𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜.

Sometimes it means the process hasn't reached the point where a conventional test can clearly label it yet.

And when you're dealing with something as complex as autoimmunity, there can be a lot happening long before measurable tissue damage shows up.

That's why a thorough workup needs to look beyond a single lab result.

Your symptoms.

Your family history.

Your thyroid antibodies.

Inflammatory markers.

Gut health.

Vitamin D.

Viral history.

And the bigger picture of how your immune system has been functioning over time.

Because the gap between “𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙚𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙬𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙜” and an official diagnosis can be years long.

And those years matter.

That's exactly what I dive into in this week's newsletter—what a more complete autoimmune workup can look like and what questions you can bring to your next appointment when you're still searching for answers.
