I’m always encouraging my clients to listen and honor their body. I try to always take my own advice. While running at the park this morning my body was telling me to slow down and listen to the trees. The park has these concrete slabs for camping nestled in the trees. I was drawn to these trees and the peace I feel from nature. I sat down and listened to the sounds of nature. I did some meditation and felt my nervous system regulating. I have been feeling a little overwhelmed and stressed. I then did some yoga and it was exactly what my body needed.
Learn to listen to your body it will tell you what you need.

So thankful to get to work with my dear friend Leslie Bell. I met Leslie many years ago when she was my supervisor when I was still in grad school and working as a mental health tech. at an inpatient psychiatric hospital. Leslie has been my supervisor, my mentor and now my dearest friend. She’s an amazing person and fantastic therapist! We did two equine wellness retreats together this week and had the best time. Horses, yoga, meditation and nature!

Do you know how your body feels in it’s calm, relaxed state? Do you know the things that will put your body there? Do you know what dysregulates your body and what helps regulate your body? This is all part of trauma work. For me nature always relaxes my body, allowing my body to soften, my breathing to slow down, and my chest to relax.

This has been a long time dream of mine. Finally today it came true!! I have bees!! Thank you so much to my dear friend Marie Wreath for all her help and wisdom.
Bees are like horses in the way that they feel your energy. When I had some swarming me I would do some meditative breathing and the bees would get calm and stop swarming. I believe all humans and animals want to feel safe energy. And safe energy opens up the opportunity for a beautiful connection.

I hope to share honey and herbal teas at the retreats in the future!!!

Part of healing is honoring what feels safe and joyful. You need to be connected to your body in order to know what feels safe and what does not. Horses are experts at this as prey animals. That is why they make great partners in therapy.

Today I was struggling to deal with the 30 degree temperature drop. The weather changing so much recently made me think about change in general. Most people don’t like change. Change is uncomfortable. Can people change? I believe they can if they truly want to. Change takes work and time. It is not linear. People have to want to change enough to be uncomfortable. I have said before that the best people come to therapy but also the bravest, because change is uncomfortable. But we don’t grow being comfortable.
