🌟 STUDENT SPOTLIGHT | Meet Hallie Hotchkiss 🌟

For 3-Year BSN student Hallie Hotchkiss, The Christ College felt right from her very first visit.

“When I came for my tour, I immediately felt welcomed and comfortable.”

Hallie was looking for smaller classes and professors who would know her and support her throughout nursing school. She also found something that made TCC stand out—the opportunity to earn her BSN in three years.

“I was okay with taking classes during the summers because, for me, it was worth it to graduate and start my nursing career sooner.”

Now in the program, Hallie says the personal support she hoped to find has made a real difference.

“Nursing school can definitely be challenging, so having professors who know you and want to see you succeed has made a big difference for me.”

Scholarship support has also helped ease some of the financial stress, allowing Hallie to focus more on nursing school and reaching her goals.

Hallie, we’re glad that first visit led you to The Christ College—and proud to be part of your journey to becoming a nurse. 💙💛

Our NUR 225 BSN students are putting their skills into practice as they learn about safety and infection prevention! Students practiced properly donning and doffing personal protective equipment (PPE), an essential skill for protecting themselves and their patients.

If you know Tony, you know — he’s all heart. ❤️

Congratulations to Tony Boniella, Assistant Director of Financial Aid, our October Employee Spotlight winner!

Tony is one of those people who simply goes above and beyond. Whether he’s helping a student navigate financial aid, searching for every possible opportunity to make college more affordable, or patiently answering one more question, Tony makes sure our students know they have someone in their corner.

And his impact doesn’t go unnoticed. Students have specifically mentioned Tony when sharing why they chose The Christ College, describing how his kindness and support made them feel at home before they even started classes. That’s what being The Clear Choice is all about!

On Friday, we welcomed alumni back for our annual Alumni Luncheon — an afternoon filled with memories, connections and celebration.

This year was especially meaningful as we honored the Class of 1976 on their 50th reunion, along with all of the alumni who joined us representing generations of Christ College graduates.

We were also honored to welcome the Cincinnati Nurses Honor Guard, who presented a touching tribute in remembrance of our alumni nurses who have passed away over the past year. It was a beautiful way to recognize their lives, their service to others and the legacy they leave behind.

We also celebrated two extraordinary alumnae whose careers reflect a lifelong commitment to nursing, education and service:

🏅 Distinguished Alumni Award: Connie L. Cook, Class of 1973
Connie has been part of The Christ Hospital family for an incredible 54 years, beginning as a Nurse Aide and going on to a distinguished career in nursing and healthcare leadership. Even in retirement, she continues to serve — recently surpassing 1,000 volunteer hours at The Christ Hospital.

🏅 Hall of Fame Award: Dr. Connie McFadden-Chase, Class of 1994
Connie received a special surprise as her family joined us to see her honored! From nurse and nurse manager to longtime faculty member and academic leader, she has dedicated her career to preparing and supporting future generations of nurses. Today, she serves as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer at The Christ College.

What a wonderful reminder that our alumni are an important part of our history, our present, and our future. Thank you to everyone who came home to celebrate with us! 💙💛

🌟 STUDENT SPOTLIGHT | Meet Elaina 🌟

Senior BSN student Elaina took her nursing education on the road this summer, spending 400 hours at Cleveland Clinic as part of its Nurse Associate Externship Program—an experience that later earned her a feature in Cleveland Clinic’s newsletter.

Working one-on-one with nurse preceptors, Elaina gained experience across several specialties, including emergency and rapid clinical decision care, the Medical ICU, surgery, labor and delivery, and high-risk antepartum care.

For Elaina, the externship built upon years of preparation and took her clinical thinking to a new level.

“My combination of TCC clinicals, professional EMT training, and four years of patient care jobs gave me a solid foundation for nursing. The Cleveland Clinic summer student nurse externship taught me how to anticipate a patient’s rapid and subtle deterioration and think about potential clinical consequences before they happen.”

Elaina also credits her experience at The Christ College with providing the personal support she values throughout her nursing education.

“The instructors care to make sure you understand. The small class sizes and having accessible instructors are the main reasons the BSN program is such a good fit for me.”

Her accomplishments also caught the attention of Cleveland Clinic’s Farrah Jerome, who recognized Elaina’s experience and noted the important role her education at The Christ College has played in preparing her for opportunities like the Nurse Associate Externship and for her future nursing career.

Now back at TCC for her senior year, Elaina brings 400 hours of new experiences, skills and perspectives back to the classroom and clinical setting as she continues preparing for the transition from nursing student to Registered Nurse.

Congratulations, Elaina! We’re proud to see you build upon the foundation you’ve developed at TCC, seek out experiences that challenge you, and bring that knowledge back to campus as you prepare for what comes next. 💙💛

🌟 STUDENT OF THE WEEK | Meet Keirlynn Grause 🌟

MACC student, Keirlynn Grause, has wanted to work in healthcare her entire life. She says she has “a big heart and the determination to help”—something she recently demonstrated when classroom learning turned into real-life action.

Following an emergency preparedness lesson, Keirlynn encountered a woman in the parking lot showing signs of dehydration, confusion and heat exhaustion. She remained calm, called 911, alerted her instructor, stayed with the woman and communicated her observations to EMS when they arrived.

Her actions prompted Medical Assisting Clinical Certificate (MACC) Program Chair, Megan Luck, to nominate her for Student of the Week, praising Keirlynn’s preparedness, critical thinking, compassion, and willingness to step forward when someone needed help.

For Keirlynn, that preparation is one of the things she values most about the program.

“The instructors make sure we are prepared and understand the material. I’ve also been surprised by how much medical assistants actually do—from giving medications to drawing blood.”

But it’s the people who have made TCC feel like the right choice.

“I toured other colleges, but The Christ College just felt right. Everyone in the program feels like a second family. We go to class and everyone, including the instructors, talks and jokes like we’ve known each other for years.”

And MACC is just the beginning. Keirlynn plans to continue in our BSN nursing program, with the goal of eventually working in labor and delivery or pediatrics. Medical assisting gives her the opportunity to begin working in healthcare sooner, gaining valuable hands-on patient care experience as an MA while continuing her education and working toward her BSN.

Keirlynn, congratulations on being named our Student of the Week. We’re proud to see you already putting your skills—and your heart for helping others—into action. 💙💛
