Visiting the Institute and see his office was a truly inspiring experience. Years ago I was able to stand in the library he used and the classroom he used to teach in. This is a fantastic quote from a very brilliant scientist.

Scientists at Stanford have developed a plastic that mimics human skin. This may give people with prosthetic limbs the chance to feel through them.

Chemists and engineers have created the first synthetic material that is both sensitive to touch and capable of healing itself quickly and repeatedly at room temperature. The advance could lead to smarter prosthetics or more resilient personal electronics that repair themselves.

A research group has developed a spray on, transparent PV cell.

One of the holy grails of solar cell technology may have been found, with researchers at UCLA announcing they have created a new organic polymer that produces electricity, is nearly transparent and is more durable and malleable than silicon.

Lab on a chip is a fascinating field. The picture below is "lungs on a chip". Researchers are now using living cells inside a small chip in order to test their reaction to molecules.

Engineers are developing "organs-on-a-chip", microchips lined with living cells that mimic the structure and biochemical behaviour of a human organ, making drug screening much easier. The image below belongs to one of the first "lungs-on-a-chip" and it is roughly the size of a memory stick. This technology could also put an end to animal experimentation
